Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only QB other than Mahomes I'd argue taking over is Goff. Not saying I would, but Goff is the real deal when it comes to the perfect mold almost of what you want out of QB.

It can't be said enough, if he stays healthy, he's going to Canton. He's that good. I'm not pissed anymore we missed him given we have Baker.

Goff is about as good as it gets though coming into this league. Insane how good guys like him and Mahomes are.

They're top-3 QBs RIGHT NOW! Don't give me nostalgia old farts like Brady and Aaron "I Can't Even Get My Team To the Playoffs" Rodgers.

No one will dare put them ahead of those almighty names.

But they arent playing at the level of them.

Because they're not as good as them today. Not talking past time accomplishments. Today, Goff and Mahomes are better than Brady and Rodgers.

I want to give the mantle to Mahomes, Goff...etc.

The problem is...I've yet to see Brady and Sex Offender Frankenstein experience "diminished skills".

Their teams are still in the playoff conversation, and they seemingly have enough to mask any sort of flaws they might be experiencing.

Factoring in age and contract status, if you could give me any QB in the league to build around, Mayfield would probably be my 5th choice.

Mahomes is pretty clearly No. 1.

I would have Goff and Wentz 2 and 3 and Watson 4.

I can’t put Mayfield above those four guys yet. Maybe in a year when he gets more experience, better weapons and better coaching.

Obviously Baker’s rookie year has been quite a bit better than Goff or Wentz’s. Watson, while awesome, is inherently risky to me long term because of the amount of hits he allows himself to take.

The future looks remarkably bright for Mayfield no matter how you want to slice it.

Watson takes too many hits for me. I still think he is a ticking time bomb

Wentz has been less than stellar this year.

Could be due to losing Frank Reich and John DeFilippo, could be due to shaky pass protection, could be due to coming off the injury...either way I think Baker has done more with less recently as a rookie in comparison to 3rd year Wentz.

Went to the eagles game Monday as I was there for work... man Wentz missed a ton of open receivers I really was not impressed to be quite honest

Pretty spot on. I don't think Luck ever matched the hype. Injuries and a shitty organization and coaching never helped him, I get that...

But Luck was never a very accurate passer and gambled too much. That was his flaws that was overlooked.

Baker is honestly much better than Luck coming into the NFL.

Baker already is averaging 7.46 yards per attempt completing 63 percent of his passes. Luck never did that.

And he came into the league in a good situation. Bruce Arians was his offensive coordinator.

Luck is at 7.13 for his career completing just just 60 percent of his passes. His rookie season he completed just 54% of his passes with a really shitty 6.98 yards per attempt.

That's really poo poo. Sure, he had over 4,000 yards passing but he had a shit ton of attempts.

I just think Luck just never really adapted to the NFL. He's not a bad QB. But he certainly never lived up to the hype either. Even before the injuries.

I will say he was in a terrible situation that never helped him go upward though.

But fact is though guys like Mahomes, Goff, Russell Wilson, and Baker just are/were better than him coming into the league though.

His o line has always been awful from what I can remember.

Yikes this man just said Mahomes and Goff are better than Brady???

Let’s see about that when we’re in January.

it’s not that outlandish of a comment.

Like, right now?

Sure, because Brady is 41 and can’t go on using mouth kisses from his son to feel youthful.

Of the sub-30-year-old QBs, the new generation of QBs would be (for me):

1. Mahomes
2. Luck
3. Goff
4. Wentz

Then Watson, Mayfield and Rosen fighting to join that group.

Are we watching a different Rosen? Because he's been underwhelming as fuck thus far. He doesn't even deserve to be in the same conversation as Baker Mayfield right now.

Not saying he can't get there, but right now he has no place even being in the conversation.

He’s getting killed out there.

But the talent has been obvious.
