Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I also think people are going to start turning on Fournette as well (overdue)

His career is looking pretty Trent-esque

Now we just wait for a Colts counterpart to say the Jaguars ruined him and spend too much based on draft hype. Maybe it’ll be the actual colts again lol

I think Ballard is a solid GM, I'd be curious to see how he manages the draft this year because last year he crushed it.

Agreed, it was a two team race for best draft: Dorsey and Ballard.

Ballard managed to solidify the offensive line in a bad offensive line draft class. They took two of the top three guard prospects and bounced Braden Smith to right tackle. They also walked away with the most productive linebacker despite three other linebackers going before Leonard. At the end of the second round they grabbed a raw pass rush specialist in Turay who has four sacks this season and a high ceiling in future seasons.

Browns crushed their draft, but the Colts did too.

I do not like his demeanor on the field/sidelines. He looks like he separates himself from the Jaguars and runs as a mercenary. His body language last night with the penalties was fugly.

Going forward would you rather have Baker or Luck as your QB?

I would have preferred rookie Luck, but after the shoulder injury Baker has upside that sadly Andrew Luck isn't getting back. The future is bright with Baker. His style is less traditional than Luck but he is going to be fine.

Watching Ryan Grigson ignore the offensive line and let Luck get battered was like watching a thoroughbred break it's leg on a bad track.

Personally I am not a huge gunslinger fan. I know some are saying Baker is a gunslinger, but he really is an accurate QB in the Brees or Rodgers mold. Luck had a cannon for sure, but throws too many pics and not quite accurate enough for my type of QB.

So for me I rather have Baker. Right now I think Mahomes is the only QB I take over Baker going forward, but I might be missing a QB that I am not thinking of.

Pretty spot on. I don't think Luck ever matched the hype. Injuries and a shitty organization and coaching never helped him, I get that...

But Luck was never a very accurate passer and gambled too much. That was his flaws that was overlooked.

Baker is honestly much better than Luck coming into the NFL.

Baker already is averaging 7.46 yards per attempt completing 63 percent of his passes. Luck never did that.

And he came into the league in a good situation. Bruce Arians was his offensive coordinator.

Luck is at 7.13 for his career completing just just 60 percent of his passes. His rookie season he completed just 54% of his passes with a really shitty 6.98 yards per attempt.

That's really poo poo. Sure, he had over 4,000 yards passing but he had a shit ton of attempts.

I just think Luck just never really adapted to the NFL. He's not a bad QB. But he certainly never lived up to the hype either. Even before the injuries.

I will say he was in a terrible situation that never helped him go upward though.

But fact is though guys like Mahomes, Goff, Russell Wilson, and Baker just are/were better than him coming into the league though.

The only QB other than Mahomes I'd argue taking over is Goff. Not saying I would, but Goff is the real deal when it comes to the perfect mold almost of what you want out of QB.

It can't be said enough, if he stays healthy, he's going to Canton. He's that good. I'm not pissed anymore we missed him given we have Baker.

Goff is about as good as it gets though coming into this league. Insane how good guys like him and Mahomes are.

They're top-3 QBs RIGHT NOW! Don't give me nostalgia old farts like Brady and Aaron "I Can't Even Get My Team To the Playoffs" Rodgers.

No one will dare put them ahead of those almighty names.

But they arent playing at the level of them.

Because they're not as good as them today. Not talking past time accomplishments. Today, Goff and Mahomes are better than Brady and Rodgers.
