2019 Series #3 | Indians vs. Blue Jays | April 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Damn, people think the lineup is good? We’ll see I guess. Wonder if Kipnis has any juice left.

CarGo is definitely coming but Naquin would be hard to send down right now which is almost impossible to comprehend right now given how he started the year.

Bauers could go down I guess but he has a couple clutch hits.

I guess at this point, assuming they want to give Luplow a shot and given that he's RH (I think Mercado or Maybin will end up replacing him down the road though), you're probably looking at Allen being sent down.

Allen in 20ABs is only hitting .50. He seems to have been better than that and I like what he brings as an off the bench runner type and defense but I'd expect him to be odd man out first.

Bauers defense has been stellar. Think he stays up.

Actually Allen is hitting .050, .50 would be fantastic and leading the team, lol

I know I take issue with the second part of your post.

I need to see Lindor snd Ramirez at mvp form in this lineup to believe we have any sort of chance.

Because that's just not how baseball works. This isn't the NBA where the best team almost always wins. This isn't even the NFL where the best teams usually win. It's baseball. If you get into the playoffs, your shot's pretty much as good as anyone else's to win the whole thing.

I mean i get where he is coming from with the statement we need to see our proven guys actually hitting, but at the same time, we are 6-3 with a bottom 5 offense in all of baseball while having a top 5 pitching staff and maybe eventually the best team in modern baseball history on that side by the end of the season. If we can get even average production with our batting, we actually have a legitimate shot to win it all. I know we will go get another bat mid season as well if guys arent producing. We are currently averaging like 4 runs a game (really is 3ish without that 7 run game) and we arent even giving up 3 a game even with that 8 run game we allowed. I think the best thing for us will be the underdog in the playoffs since we were in 16 and thats the year we actually got to the World Series. This year and next season, we are still a very legitimate contender for the WS. We have 4 HRs and 6 wins, we have the ability to control the opponents run scored fairly well.

At the moment though the Rays are actually pretty scary, been watching them to see how Diaz has been doing, and they actually are good enough to take the East with the injuries to the Yankees and the struggling Red Soxs pitching.

Yes, I heard this last year before the Tribe got blasted out of the playoffs.

Look, if you think getting to the playoffs and fielding a minor league lineup gives us as good of a shot as anyone, won’t waste any time arguing. But you know the Indians wouldn’t be facing the White Sox and Blue Jays in October.

Need our MVPs on the field. That’s 6 months away, obviously, but didn’t think that was ever a point of debate.

Do you forget that in 2016 we had Josh Tomlin and Ryan Merritt as starting pitchers and nearly won the whole thing? If that wasn't proof enough for you that this sport really doesn't reward the "best" team, I'm not sure what is. I know it's a basketball forum so it's hard to get out of the mindset that the best team usually wins, because that team typically wins a single game of basketball, let alone a long series. But, in basketball, you have teams posting winrates between .890 and .106. In football, you've had undefeated teams and winless teams. MLB? Well, since the NFL merger in '66, we've had one team (the 2003 Tigers) go .265, and the Mariners posted a .716 clip. The best NBA teams are nearly 3x more likely to win a single game than the best MLB team.

Obviously we want to be at our best. But acting like if both Jose and Frankie aren't putting up MVP numbers then we don't have a shot at all? I have to believe you know that's just factually untrue.

Jesus Christ....

That 2016 team had Jose and Lindor healthy in its lineup. The American league also wasn’t what it is today. Anything can happen, we know, it’s baseball. Banking on the very unlikely isn’t enticing however.

What championships are "likely?"

This is once again exemplifying how intentionally ignorant Indians fans have become about differentiating how hard it is to win a championship in a professional sport.

If the point here is to just needlessly whine about what could have been from yesteryear, I'll leave you to it.

But its April 8, get a fucking grip on claiming this season is some sort of remote happening.

Welcome to a team with World Series expectations. That’s the culture the franchise has kindled over the last few years.

It’d do you well to engage instead of flipping your shit every time somebody isn’t pissing rainbows about the Indians. Their lineup needs to improve. I could read this same statement in probably any press piece on the Indians right now, but it’s trigger material for you if it’s uttered here. Stop.

Ah yeah, the World Series expectations of a team with, as you put it, remote chances of winning the World Series.

Makes perfect sense. I can't imagine why people think fans are batshit insane with regards to how they view this team.

Go Browns!
