The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know about them taking the picture and just running with it. But they're literally stealing scenes from garbage movies and adding them into GoT.

To @Rich point they are lazy pieces of shit that can't come up with things on their own.

There's no debate they stole that silly ass scene from a movie that bombed, and used it for only maybe the biggest deal/conclusion on the entire show.

Two complete hacks.

I feel sorry for Star Wars fans. Luckily I'm not one.

Rich, my dude, you need a vacation. :chuckle: You are taking this all way too hard. Book a flight to a beach for a couple days and relax lol.

It's abundantly clear that you're upset about the finale, but now we've got people out here saying D&D are combing through random fan art to write their ending?? lmao. Come on man.

First of all, why mention the white dress? Dany was wearing her black dress. Jon didn't kill her with Longclaw. And everyone in the world knew that the throne room was getting trashed and it would be snowing at the end since Season 2, and half the fandom assumed Jon would have to kill Dany Nissa Nissa style since as long as the books have been out (although the circumstances were just speculation).

I don't know how many times I've said it at this point, but it's still true.... There are so many easy and valid criticisms of how the show ended. There is zero need to manufacture stuff. It's very easy to explain why the ending can be viewed as disappointing without devolving it into a Reddit circlejerk. :chuckle:

I mean you do you and I'll do me?

I don't see me trying to convince you the whole season sucked. You seem to want to find joy in that train wreck, so be it. But like this is the 2nd time you've admonished people for not being all that happy with it. First it was guys going back and tearing down old seasons unfairly and now this.

I mean you've got a clear, can't mistake it example of them ripping a scene straight from Vampire Hunter. Down to the camera angle and the slow-mo and everything. If you think that's an accident, ok. I don't

My favorite thing about this thread is that it's getting more traffic than the Cavs Talk and Indians section right now.

Us RCFers love us (or hate us I guess) some Game of Thrones.

I don't know, I think its very possible they are that big of hacks. That scene in Vampire Hunter IS EXACTLY the same!

So why wouldn't these two bums just find a picture, take it, and go fuck it we'll use this?

Yeah, its not exactly the same. Jon wasn't dressed like a Lannister soldier in that picture. And Dany hair wasn't the same, nor was she wearing a white dress.

But they used that silly Vampire Hunter scene for one of the biggest conclusions on the show. Killing the Night King.

I actually want to believe they took the picture and ran with it this point.

Because they deserve that kind of ridicule.

This is certainly not the case. I know many people are unhappy about it, I am unhappy about a lot of it, but not as much as others. But I have argued my case when points get brought up that I think are incorrect. But I'm never gonna tell someone they are wrong for not liking it. I may point out that I personally think some of their reasoning is flawed though. Thats discussion :dunno:

But there is a fine line (or maybe not so fine line) between understandable criticism and a crazy screed. I've got a couple folks on ignore on here that went full screed a long time ago. But I've really liked the back and forth with you in this thread Rich, and with others. But your posts, IMO, in the last day or so are gettin' pretty screedy. The fan art thing kinda jumped the shark.

But that's a personal opinion from me. I'm a mod but I'm in no way gonna block anybody's opinion or say you can't express your feelings. I'm just expressing my personal thoughts on it.

I think this at least proves what I've been saying all along. They 100% mailed this in, and didn't give a flying fuck about it at all anymore.

EDIT: Jon dressed like a Targaryen soldier. The image wouldn't load up completely on my phone.

I love Game of Thrones.
I love the actors and actresses.
I love the characters.
I love the settings, the choreography of the fight scenes, the CGI, the animations, the cinematic filming.

I don't love D&D.

I enjoyed season eight probably more than anybody in here because I knew it was end of an era, so outside of E4 which I thought was a complete shitfest that even I really couldn't defend outside of the opening funeral scene, I really did try to enjoy it all.

I'll always just be a bit sad knowing that the writers screwed over all the other great people that worked on this show for a decade, especially some of the major actors/actresses that had a character they've worked on for years and years really get butchered down the over the last two hours of the show (Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, Sophie Turner, Kit Harrington, hell, even Lena Headey got screwed). So much wasted potential for a great conclusion flushed down the drain by literally two people who don't realize how great they had it on this show.

Literally was a perfect storm of great acting, storylines, cintematics, CGI, budget, settings, everything...

Just kind of bums me out that we're all sitting here knowing that no matter how much any of us enjoyed it, me being one of the biggest "apologists" on the board for the show, we all know it could have been so much better.

I mean, you're probably not wrong. In all seriousness, they probably really didn't seriously take that image and just ran with it.

But ouch, they stole a scene from a movie and put it in for Arya to kill the NK.

What the hell. :falloff:

You gotta check the choreography and stunt coordinators. They may have been the same ones and choreographed both scenes.

I thought Jon killing Dany was a foregone conclusion until the second to last episode, and then I thought Arya would do it because they focused on her so much seeing everything on the ground while the city burned.

My feeling about this whole last season was that there wasn't enough dialogue, and plot drove the characters instead of characters driving the plot.

It's why I'm so pissed. I loved the show and enjoyed all of it, even when they ran out of RR source material and it clearly started going down in quality.

I still enjoyed it.

I still enjoyed moments of the season, but really didn't enjoy very much overall, at all, of this season.

I want to pretend it never happen I hate it that much.

This final, you probably could have fried eggs on my forehead with how pissed off I was with almost everything while watching it.

Outside a few early scenes of Tyrion seeing Jaime dead. And I actually loved Jon's ending.

That's about it. I thought it was all supposed to be satire and was some big joke.

I probably am one that needs a vacation too. I'll admit. I'm pretty bitter and pissed off. And I'm letting it affect me too much.

My expectations were so low going into the final. D&D manage to go even lower of my disappointment after watching.

I knew the final would be silly, but I didn't expect it to be so damn boring and so completely asinine combined.

Come on. We all know Dumb and Dumber stole it. They wrote the damn plot. They had to write how she kills the NK. No way in hell, they just leave a scene this important up to the choreography and stunt coordinators.

They are so lazy, they even use the exact camera angles, literally, everything!

They couldn't even change it up a little, to not make it so damn obvious.

Word brotha.

This is how I feel.

When I started this thread I knew this was the next big thing. Ten years later here we are...not a fan of season 8, but in NO way does it ruin my fandom of the show, story or world.

Just a little pang of disappointment about what could have been.

Yep. It's just a shame, because IMO the root of all the problems is how these last two seasons were rushed. With more time, things would have made more sense.

We got cheated. All for some shitty Star Wars movies. It fucking sucks. But I still love GoT.

Man I totally forgot that for a split second in s1 D&D remembered Tysha and then just..didn't? Beginning of the end of Tyrion's story arc was pretending she no longer existed.

LIke, when he leaves KL he leaves HATING Jaime. Despising him. They really fucked Tyrion up.

Also, I caught Sam mentioning Drogon going to Volantis, I'm guessing an inside *wink-wink* to Kinvara, being the High Priestess of Volantis and whatnot...ya know, in case they decide to do a spinoff where Daenerys gets revived in 10 years.
