Just like @BMAN said, I would still move Bauer. You only use 4 starters in the playoffs, and we have Kluber/Cookie/Clevinger/Bieber, with Plesac looking fine and McKenzie hopefully beating down that door next year.
I'm terrified for Cookie right now though. It's crazy that we lost 3 of our top starting pitchers, had historically awful offense from a few batters, and are still in this thing.
I haven't seen any updates on Carrasco outside of the early stages saying he was going for tests and he should be back sometime this season. Hopefully its just something that can be taken care that easily, for his sake and his family's as well.
Indians climbing back into the WC race almost surely means they dont move Bauer or Hand, right?
I can see both sides of the coin with Bauer, since we are still in the running, you don't want to sell, but at the same time Bauer should net you players in areas you are weak, and should save money/create monetary space as well so maybe you can move his contract for young players and move other guys for another veteran bat or something to finish out the roster for this season. We have a ton of options, just what is best for this season and long term at the same time.
Hand we cannot replace right now especially with Karinchak still on the mend in the minors (most likely candidate in due time for the closers role), I don't trust anyone right now can take the closers role (I still don't trust anyone even in the setup role to be honest), so moving Hand wouldn't be something I would be willing to do, but we have depth at SP so Bauer we can afford to move and still stay competing this season, Hand we cannot.
