Bauers looks the opposite of healthy, yet continues hitting.
Wait, you think he’s hurt? I only watched first half of the game.

He was grimacing twice on swings and misses and it looked like his wrist was bothering him.

Immediately followed with an extra base hit both times, so IDK what is going on.

Maybe he was over-swinging earlier in the year and now that he hurt something it is having him ease up on his swing and he is making better contact?

From what I can tell, it was because he was able to start getting his velocity up, while keeping his command. IN lynchburg last season he still working on getting his velocity up/his arm stronger. He feels like Clevinger in some ways to me, that guy who had Tommy John at a bad time and people gace up on him, but was able to come back from it stronger than he was before. So most people wouldn't disagree with you since he really didn't click until he got to Akron last season/this off season training.

I didn't even think much of his time in Akron last year because 3 of the 4 starts happened early in the season just because they needed an arm up there.

Though his numbers were better in those starts at Akron than at lynchburg, so maybe he does better when the competition is better?.. I mean going through his numbers, 3 out of the 4 starts were solid at akron, but only half of his starts at Lynchburg were good. my guess is something started to click sometime during last seasons/off season with his velocity and thats that. I mean scouting reports from last year said he would hit 93 on occasions and he is at 94.2 in his MLB starts this season. This season the scouting reports I read said he was sitting at 93 and would hit 95. With his slider to RH batters, hitting 84 mph and his changeup to lefties hitting 86, with an occasional curve and forkball. He actually should have room to improve since he is still working on his off speed pitches.

Bimbo had him as a sleeper in the off season, so he was expecting him to show up this season.

That's not a thing, but I'm very glad he's figured it out. Now all we need to do is get McKenzie healthy.

That isn't a thing, but it is at the same time. I have met/been around people who seem to play better against the stronger/better competition. Like my high school soccer team lost legitimately to a really bad team then went and tied one of the top rated teams in the nation. I don't know why, but it feels like some people, the harder the competition, the more energy and whatnot that comes out of them. I have seen some guys just never be able to handle the pressure and crack under the heavier competition

Plesac has that it factor on the mound since it doesn't seem like the harder competition has even phased him at all overall. He is human and will have some bad starts like he did against the Reds, but it feels like he is one of those guys, the harder the competition the more fire will come out of him. With his velocity and stuff improved and that will not die attitude, plus injuries to our big guns, gave him a chance to prove himself and he is making the most of it, but that isn't something that you care about.

McKenzie really put himself back with the injuries the last couple seasons. He is a heck of a pitcher, but feels like he is almost going down the Salazar road with the injuries. He is still only 21 (doesn't have to be added to the 40 man roster next season since he isn't rule 5 eligible) and still needs to put on some more muscle on his frame (though he will always look like a right handed version of Sale physically). I think everyone expected his MLB debut this season, but I almost thinking it won't be until the end of next season/2021 sometime that he makes it now. I am not worried about arm talent, I am worried about his durability overall.

We still have Eli Morgan also in the minors who should be able to get to AAA this season and could be a factor in next season. Even if we trade Bauer we have a ton of talent under team control for awhile, so I don't want McKenzie rushed personally. I feel he needs to get physically more durable before we make him a mainstay in the pros.

Coach, I don't think I need to tell you that high school soccer is different than professional baseball. Plesac got better. It had nothing to do with playing up or down to competition. If we put him in Lynchburg now, he'd dominate.

Not my point at all so I will just leave it at that.

He has the "it factor" and "pitches up to his competition" based off of five major league starts in mid-June and a few spot starts in Akron last season?

He's been impressive so far but come on man

Tons of moxie

I wonder why we don't pull more 30-year old dudes out of co-ed softball games and give them a shot in the majors. Maybe they're just people who play up to the competition?
