Been thinking about this since drafting garland.

Is the talent gap between him and culver that great to warrant picking him? It seems that culver was a better fit with sexton and a top 5 prospect to boot. Is garland that much better player having just played 5 games in college with questions on durability, size, and play making ability?

yes

Sounds perfect for the culture cavs are trying to build. Hope that culture can influence porter

If Sexton can infect Garland and Windler and all 3 can infect Porter, then we will actually be a good team by 2020.

Sexton is one of the hardest working players in the league, at least for year one. If the other guys follow his lead and can stay motivated and have each other’s backs as we play through mistakes, then we will have the start of a sound culture.

The positivity around this kid is irrational. He is a legit scorer/shooter no doubt. But keep in mind he is a terrible fit with Sexton no matter how much people try to talk themselves and each other into it. He is getting flipped or Sexton is one of the 2 won't be here much longer imo.
If I am wrong they better be putting up 55 a night between them because they will give up close to that easily

I think Sexton and Garland will be paired together for a while because they will be our 2 best player especially if Love gets moved in the next two years. I just don't think the organization will have a better choice in the near future. Maybe 2.5 years from now they will but thats if they draft real well.

With Sexton's work ethic, it's hard to bet against him. Thinking that two guys will beat him out for the guard spots, just doesn't seem likely. The sixth man talk with him is just premature. I think it more likely we trade one of them before making Sexton the sixth man.

As for trades, unless we have a true superstar come into the organization, I think it will be hard for the organization to trade either Garland or Sexton if both are playing well. The league seems like it will be flush with PGs for a while, getting equal return back just seems unlikely.

I think the organization is set to move forward with the two guard lineup for the near future. To change that I think we will have to draft two real good wings. Basically one wing that will beat out Cedi first then one that will end up beating out Garland or Sexton.

We will not be a good team next year or the year after....even if we hit on all 4 picks from last year and this year. NBA really is about experience.

That doesn't mean we wont be a good team again, but patience. Watch the growth and enjoy it.

Especially if Toronto gets broken up I am not sure we should be talking about years until contention. Eastern Conference is pretty bad.

His Dad played in the early 90's, he just called him old. I don't think I like this kid anymore, lol.

I played high school ball against guys who played in the 70s and a few of them played in the NBA. Maybe I should change my screen name to Moses or Dirt.

If Cavaliers move somebody before the season I really think it will be Sexton. But where is the harm in trying them out together for a season? Yeah the defense will be bad. But the offensive upside is tantalizing. And both playing on and off the ball will only raise their value later on. But keep in mind that Darius Garland is a Beilein guy, Sexton was inherited. So the odds of him choosing Sexton over Garland if it comes to that aren't very high in my opinion. Unless Garland completely face plants.
