If love wants to go to Portland I hope we find a way to make it happen. Make him happy and clear up some space and a roster spot. We’re not going to get much value for him. We’ll be lucky to get expirings and protected picks.

I think Love gets you roughly what Memphis just got for MIke Conley.

Aka, not Myles Turner or Sabonis.

We should keep him if all he nets is a Middling prospect like Grayson and a mid 20s pick. Hes valuable as a mentor. Unless he asks to be traded just wait until we get a offer we like.

We should trade him for anything we can get. That contract is an albatross. He can’t stay on the court.

It's not an albatross. It is our only long term money. He's the best player on the team.

He is way better as a cultural influence on our team than a few shitty picks and an actual albatross bad contract of a guy who isn't good.

Sure, last season the Cavs had Love shut it down early rather than playing through a toe injury. That made sense because the franchise wanted to tank the first 2/3rds of the season.

However, I feel like the majority of posters have lost sight of the fact Kevin Love averaged over 83 games played per season as a Cavalier. Did he miss a few stretches of the regular season every year? Yeah, but so did all the important members of the Cavs and Warriors.

This idea that Kevin Love is definitely going to get injured next year lacks any logical evidence in support. I understand that he is older compared to the rest of the roster, but there is no established long-term injury like a hamstring or calf lingering year after year. Anyone can get injured any season. Why stop at Love? Should the Cavs trade Sexton right now because he might get injured next year, ruining his trade value? Why not go all in and trade the whole roster for future picks since every player has an equal chance of getting injured during the season, thus maximizing trade value?

Just an empty bench, four coaches, and a treasure trove of future picks. It's the ultimate RCF roster.

I'll trade Love for Anfernee Simons

Huh? Never did I say I would trade Love straight up for Simons, not that it would even work under the cap. Simons is a young player that I was interested in before we ever drafted Garland & Porter. He doesn’t really fit anymore, with the Cavs backcourt getting crowded with young players.

I will say this- the Blazers love that kid and his potential. They see him taking Seth Curry’s minutes and serving as the backup PG to Lillard.

If you get an offer you can't refuse, then you trade him. I'm not interested in dumping him for whatever we can get though. I'd like to see a Garland, Sexton, Windler, Love, Nance/Thompson lineup out there. The defense would suck, but it would be fun to watch.

If he was a free agent, he’d get that contract at 6:01 this Sunday. People need to get off the albatross BS
I've put pretty much every poster on ignore that insists Love's contract is a albatross or negative value or whatever

Over the last three seasons, out of a total of 246 regular season games, Kevin Love has played in 141 games or just 57%. Love will turn 31 before the 2019-2020 season gets underway and players just don’t get better with age. In fact, father time is undefeated.

There is this attachment many fans feel to Kevin Love. It’s true that he signed a contract extension after LeBron left, but the Cavs also paid him quite handsomely to get his John Hancock on that extension. There seems to be this feeling that we now owe it to Kevin Love to keep him around since he was loyal to us.

Many Cavs fans seem to be thinking with their hearts, instead of their heads, and feel that Kevin Love should command a king’s ransom, if we are to ever move him. The fact of the matter is, Love’s contract (salary & duration), inability to stay healthy, & age are all factors in why he isn’t worth nearly what many think he is. That said, Love should still should bring at least one quality draft pick and/or young player.

I contend that now is the time to move him because he is a depreciating asset and his value is likely to only go down from here. If Love is easily our best player, as many contend, then playing him will only hurt our draft positioning in a year when we will only keep that pick if it falls in the top 10. Warm and fuzzy feelings aside, now is the time to move Love because, quite simply, it is what is best for the franchise.

When Warriors signed KD I wanted Love gone ASAP. Now not so much.

Our real assets are the young players on this team. Love can make them better on/off the court which could help increase their value. I just don't see the value in these trade scenarios that are being tossed out.

Not only do I think keeping Love is the safer route I think there is still great upside with keeping him.
