Over the last three seasons, out of a total of 246 regular season games, Kevin Love has played in 141 games or just 57%. Love will turn 31 before the 2019-2020 season gets underway and players just don’t get better with age. In fact, father time is undefeated.

Before the tank season, Kevin Love played an average of 83.5 games per season as a Cavalier, including the playoffs. So no, I reject your fraudulent premise. When a team is tanking and tells their star player to take a surgery that he wouldn't bother taking if the franchise were contending, you cannot and should not hold it against his body of work beforehand.

I've always been a Kevin love fan and will remain a fan of his after we trade him. It's time. We can't afford to gamble with his health keeping him on the roster entering the season. He needs to be traded this summer at the time when his value won't be any higher than it is now. He's healthy and locked up for a few more years. Get the best possible package for him you can get.

Not sure we know his value "will never be higher." If he gets injured again, sure, but that's not certain. We have no idea what his value is now but if he puts up career average numbers his value could easily be higher at the deadline or next summer.

Nailed it!

Is it weird that I could see Griffin making a trade for Love?

It's just so strange that his team has so little spacing when Griffin spent his whole time here valuing 3pt shooting above all else.

They have the ammunition to do it and continue to add more young players/draft picks. Maybe move Jrue for more assets if need be.

Pretty obvious the drafted Jaxson w the intent of trading him to us as part of a package to get Love. And by “pretty obvious” I mean I just came up with it and it’ll never happen.

Pretty much. Just not buying Griffin's sudden change in philosophy and he was the original architect of one K-Love trade, why not do it again :chuckle:

Preferably I'd like to get back a good wing player or a big who can play inside out like Love. Wouldn't make a lot of sense to trade him for a guard. Looking around the league and right now of the available wing players I'd have to say that Jaylen Brown might be the best of the ones who we know are available. Other than him we know Josh Jackson is on the table but we'd need something more than him for Love.

As of today I think our best deal is to trade Love to BOS for Jaylen Brown and that Memphis pick.

You really think Boston would give up Brown and a pick?
Man I’d take that in a heartbeat!

Uh yeah I think they would do it. They wanted to re-sign Al Horford before he decided to walk. Love would look good under Brad Stevens. BOS has been after him for years. I'm trying not to say anything about him being white but ya know :chuckle:

Seriously though BOS and Danny Ainge have been catching hell for not cashing in their assets. Swapping Jaylen Brown for Kevin Love is a good fit on their team. It slides Tatum to the 3 and Hayward to the 2. Plus they get Love locked up for the next 3 years. They have the money to do a straight swap of Brown and the MEM pick for Love. I think Love really fits what Brad Stevens wants to do there. His passing and shooting are better than Horford. he's not as good of a defender but he also won't be playing the 5 there like Horford was.

I know we all want a really good package for Kevin Love if we do trade him but I don't think there's anything available that's better than Jaylen Brown and that MEM pick. Remember that the MEM pick is unprotected.

Jaylen Brown gives us what we need most right now which is a true two way wing player. You can slide him right in at the 3. He's due fr an extension next season and we could really be in a position to lock up a good young player for the future. I would jump on it.

Boston is not trading Jaylen Brown for Kevin Love. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are their two building blocks for when Kyrie and Al Horford leaves. I think realistically, the Cavs could get Romeo Langford or the Memphis pick, but not both. Nobody giving up all that for Kevin Love.

This line of thinking is exactly why BOS is where they are at right now. Jimmy Butler, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Kevin Love. BOS signed Gordon Hayward to a max deal when they already had Brown and Tatum. Now they can't trade Jaylen Brown because he's a building block? Sure. Slide his ass over here for Kevin Love and finally cash in on your assets Danny Ainge. The best part is Love is locked up for at least 3 more years so they know if they give up any valuable assets like Brown and the MEM pick they won't get burned like they did with Kyrie.

Tin Foil

BOS drafted Romeo Langford and Grant Williams because they are shopping Jaylen Brown.

Dude, this is a basketball board. It’s not weird to read basketball articles, follow basketball Twitter or to listen to basketball podcasts.
