New teams, new system, what does it matter ?? This isn't the same Suns team we've all seen in the past, and I'm pretty sure Raja Bell's defense isn't the culprit...You're making out like it's Raja alone who is "falling off the cliff" --The team all together is not the same..

As for last year's playoffs and why he isn't playing great now ?? Who cares ?? It doesn't mean anything in regards to him coming here and playing well or not playing well... You're comparing two different scenarios...Different teams, different philosophies, different players helping you on the defensive end etc... It means nothing... More alarming would be why a player like Sasha falls out of favor on his own team and hasn't played consistently well for 15 months or so..

J-Rich just missed two clutch tying free throws, and then proceeded to intentionally foul a Miami Heat player with 31 seconds left, down by two...

Clearly he's dumb as all hell...

I saw that. Someone earlier who watched J Rich at GS mentioned he was horrible in clutch situations. I was looking for that in the Miami game and he certainly lived up to that reputation..

The problem with j-rich is his contract goes into 2010, and he isnt enough of an upgrade over delonte to consider making a deal for him.

I'm glad someone remembered. :) If LeBron and Kobe have ice in their veins when its crunch time, J-Rich must have warm Mountain Berry Kool Aid in his veins and a lump of unchewed hot dog in his throat. Choker.

That is a perfect example of Jason Richardson. He doesn't have a clutch bone in his body and he has the in-game awareness of a footstool. When you need a 3 and you're already up or down 20, he's your man.

You keep trying to find ways to attack my argument rather than demonstrate that Bell still has the ability to stop anyone on D.

As for Sasha, his Opp Per is 4.6 and yet the majority of his minutes are spent with Jackson and Hickson in the front court. Obviously the path of least resistance is not through Pavs.

If you want a guy who works well within our defensive system, Pavs does that. But if you're looking for a guy who can act as a defensive stopper ... you just haven't made your case that Bell can still do that.

But the big question is why are we discussing this? Bell has a reasonable contract. Why would Phoenix be looking to move him? Even if they wanted to, they can't insert Barbossa in as their starting SG without someone who can sub for Nash.

Sasha really is our defensive stopper no matter how offensive that sounds to people. At the very least we have seen him contain both Paul Pierce and Michael Redd this year. It is tough to use him situationally because he can be an offensive liability. I don't like his offense, but I am glad he has been receiving the ball low, instead of trying to make the dribble penetration himself. I think if we use Varajao and keep Pavs on the wing during these times he could still be our guy. That said, I am not crazy about getting someone for Wally that plays worse defense that he does.

Can't provide you with the coach's tape, Jon.. I just think it's pretty damn unfair to insinuate this guy can't get it done anymore on the defensive end based off a defensive per on a team that gets very little done defensively.. If his dper numbers were terrible on a known defensive team, than I think you would have a case..

Never said I wanted a "stopper"-- what I want is someone with a bit more size to match up against in the playoffs, someone that won't be a post up victim and can also knock down the outside shot...I do believe though a player like LBJ could benefit with having a player like him on board as well to take some of the defensive pressure off of him throughout the course of a game... And yes, I do believe he can provide us with that.. He has had a proven track record on the defensive end, whereas these other guys mentioned have not..

Some of these guys mentioned are guys that may be more talented, but they also come with some concerns... #1 contract length..#2 Their defense.. #3 needing some sort of the offense ran through them to be at their most effective.. None of which would be an issue here with RB IMO...

If the Suns were not also in "win now" mode, I would back Pip claiming Bell as priority #1. Unfortunately, with Shaq and Nash on that team with longer unmovable contracts, I don't see how they can rebuild this season.

Thank you, John Morton...:)

Sorry if I'm moody about this, but it seems friends of mine who are from different cities are scared crapless of the existing Cavs team right now, yet I see so few posts about our current juggernaut.

for me while 17-3 is nice it is about winning the whole damn thing....if Wally's contract can be used to improve the chances of that do it.

Wow. Larry Brown does get rid of people quick.

The Suns acquired dynamic shooting guard Jason Richardson today in a trade with the Charlotte Bobcats that will also bring second-year forward Jared Dudley and a 2010 second-round draft choice to the Suns in exchange for shooting guard Raja Bell, forward Boris Diaw and rookie point guard Sean Singletary. The deal, pending players passing physicals, brings a new dimension to the Suns' shooting guard position with Richardson, who can hit 3-pointers and be an athletic fit into an uptempo system like he starred in during five seasons with Golden State. The trade call was completed at about 3:45 p.m. Phoenix time today.

That trade looks awful. Charlotte got nothing for him. Diaw's contract is longer than J-Rich's, Bell's isn't even expiring, and they had to include Dudley AND a pick!

Well... I guess Raja Bell was on the market... sounds like the Suns did better than Pavs for him, though. lol
