holy shit. it didnt look that bad on the field.

that really sucks for Vernon too, he is a UFA after this year. I wonder if he ever plays again
Thought the same thing. No one is signing him until he’s recovered. Glad he got his big money, was good to see him finish strong here. Really shitty way for him, but at least it was in a key effort to get his team to the playoffs.

Uh, fuck.

Defensive end just became the #1 priority in the draft.

Vernon isn't getting on the field next season. It felt like he had to "play himself into shape" during the season, and several veteran players all over the league had to do the same. The bans on going to the gym to lift during the spring and summer helped flatten the curve of Covid, but veterans all over the league suffered injuries because of it.

If we get Denzel back I wouldn't mind seeing a similar defensive gameplan against Ben but with some more disguised coverages. I don't think he'd complete the same amount of deep balls as Mason Rudolph, and I'd feel a lot better with Ward and Money Mitch manning the outside than having Robert Jackson 1v1 on Chase freaking Claypool.

Also, Mason was just generally lucky IMO. I lost count how many times we were a millisecond away before he let go of the ball. Not to mention our offense should be more smooth as we did not run our typical offense last week.

I think we're going to beat these dudes and probably lose to KC in the next round.

Vernon really came on strong after the bye, sad to see this. We now really need to fill some holes on defense via free agency.

I'd love a Bud Dupree or Von Miller. Maybe draft a DT or LB or whatever piece we like most with our 1st rounder.

You didn't know because it never existed in the past :)

New program. This is the first year it would be in effect.

Appropriate, because this is also the first year anyone has ever tried to hire someone from the Browns' front office while they were still employed here. :chuckle:

Man... if this team had just closed out the games they SHOULD have won (Raiders, Jets, and the second game against the Ravens) they'd have won the division going away and locked up the #2 seed.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda, I know. This is a young team that isn't used to success, and they'll learn how to close out those kinds of games. But the future is bright for this team. Really, really excited to see what this team looks like with a rebuilt defense and a full offseason with the coaches and players to implement and improve upon systems.

Same could be said for Steelers who lost games they should of won. I am not trying to call you out, but its a stupid argument. Every year teams lose games they shouldn't of. And if the final game mattered, Steelers don't put all of the back ups in like they did.

Any given Sunday, I know. Any team is capable of beating any other team, and hindsight is a beautiful thing, but games don't occur in a vacuum. The Jets game was a fluke, and I imagine if they would have played them yesterday instead of Pittsburgh they'd have beaten them handily.

That being said, those are examples of three games that moving forward, I think this team will definitely close out with different results.

I mean they got thoroughly dominated by the Raiders from beginning to end.

In a game where throwing and kicking conditions were virtually impossible.

Doesn’t excuse the loss in the slightest, but it was still a weird game.

They didn’t really at all get “thoroughly dominated”

Just missed chances. The fumble by Bryant was massive for momentum in that game, and quite frankly I think the Browns should have won that game all things considered.
