Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ah, ok. Thanks. That makes much more sense. I wondered why Drummond would be willing to walk away from that much money. He wasn't.

Yeah, the Blake Griffin buyout was probably more money "given back" by a player than every other buyout for the last 5yrs *combined*. It's usually a prorated amount of the veterans minimum so the player can sign with the new team and make what he was supposed to for the year. Other than it being frustrating/annoying for the fans, it's pretty good business for the teams and fair to the players.

Man this is another team....I just.

I think he should have went to the Nets or the Clippers or the Jazz.

Somewhere where he wouldn't start and be a focal point.

The LAkers w/o LBJ and Davis for a while are a spot where he's gonna end up shooting a ton of shots and I don't think thath elps his longterm value.

Playing well in the playoffs will help his value. This gives him a golden chance to do that. If anyone can make him look good, it's LeBron.

Hmmm. I guess I see it the other way around, Nets I agree with. Thought Nets and Lakers were equal best destinations for him

In Utah, there is no way he shares the court with Gobert so he’s only getting his backup minutes.

With the Nets, even if Jordan started over him, Jordan is not a 30 mpg player anymore so Drummond would have gotten a lot of minutes,

Most importantply, even in the mind of Drummond, there is no way he sees himself as better or equal to LeBron, AD, Durant, Harden, and Kyrie. They are all more accomplished, all better, and all the same age or older. Those are two of the scenarios he is most likely to defer in and play the way that make sense for his skill set. And if he sticks to that role, he can truly be impactful,

I think it helps him shake off the rust before those two get back. And he gets to do some stat padding before he takes his reduced role come playoff time. I frankly think it's the perfect situation for him.

No one is being fooled by his stat padding anymore. The last two trade deadlines have proved that. I think there's a great chance he just kinda plays himself out of heavy minutes by the time the playoffs role around. He'll be a 15 minute a night guy, and get paid like one.

Glad we spent multiple millions on Drummond this year for him to go help LeBron and the Lakers.

This isn't the NFL where you can rollover unused cap space...and, unless you're slumming it in RCF, I doubt it's *your* money being spent.

Andre Drummond, though frustrating, didn't keep the Cavaliers from getting anyone better. Brandon Knight, John Henson and that 2nd round pick weren't doing anything more for the Cavaliers. There was no cap space that would've drawn a better free agent.

The Cavaliers paid $1 for a lottery ticket and it didn't win. :::shrug::: It didn't have any detrimental cost.

Drummond on the big stage starting on a LeBron James led team is the definition of high risk high reward.

Jeremy Grant says otherwise, I am fairly certain we could have signed him at his rate after renouncing TT and before we signed Okoro, Delly and Dodson.

Actually they paid around $60 million..... seems to be a little more than a $1 scratcher

If his game is reduced to what he does well which is rebounding and being a physical presence defensively, he can be a good piece for them, and he'll have leaders on that team that won't take the shit he pulled here, so it might work. Low risk, high reward for the Lakers. If the Cavs benched him, the Lakers won't have any problems doing the same if he's not producing or if he's acting like he's the best player on the team.

Thing is he’ll have better players around him so he won’t feel the need be the man and force things

Maybe. Maybe not. It will be interesting to see. Drummond wasn’t at Howard’s level, but it took Dwight quite some time to adjust to not being the primary option. I can’t imagine the Lakers practice much, and it’s going to be even harder with Davis and LeBron out. He’s not going to have very much time to adjust to a lesser role prior to the playoffs.

Also, I can’t imagine he’s in basketball shape as it’s been a couple months since he last played.
