Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They would've paid Knight and Henson $30 of that to produce less, sooo...

But wouldn’t the flip side of that argument be... we save $30 million, win a few less games which could have potentially moved us up a few spots in the draft, and then have cap flexibility in the offseason.

Because all of those things seem beneficial to the Cavs at this point of their rebuild.

Just going to be fascinating if he can change his game to fit or if he continues to play Drummond Ball the way he always does.

The Cavaliers got "jumped" by 2 teams that finished with better records, so your theory falls flat. Plus, there was this whole global pandemic that ended the season early. Soooo, unless you can predict and plan for those things, you're throwing shit against a wall...

I like how you sarcastically throw out "there was this whole global pandemic" comment out there like I'm some clueless idiot.... I appreciate you being a douchebag behind a screen.

Here's some more stats for ya

Cavs went 6-5 after acquiring Drummond. Golden State had the worst record at 15-50, we ended at 19-46.... At the rate our season was heading the odds of us being worse than 6-5 with Drummond not playing for us are quite high...

13-41 Without Drummond
6-5 With Drummond

Golden State picked #2 (and LaMelo Ball was still on the board there). The scenario above plays out like it should have then picking between Wiseman/Ball is clearly more beneficial for our future than choosing between Okoro/Okongwu.

Soooooooo there's plenty of flaws in your logic also.

End of the day the Drummond acquisition was a failure. Plain and simple. The entire goal was to see if there was something there that could help us long term (there wasn't), and then see what we could acquire asset wise at the next deadline since he would be an expiring contract.

Suck off Altman all you want....... but he failed in this scenario.

The Cavaliers had the exact same number of ping pong balls as GSW. The reason we drafted 5th is because our combos didn’t come up in the draws for the first four draft positions.

So you’re blaming Koby for the actions of ping pong balls. That is not logical.

I think you're misconstruing what my actual point is to begin with.

Yes, top 3 teams all have "140 chances" in the new draft lottery format. However, the 2nd worst record has a 20% chance at the #6 pick (the absolute worst record can't be worse than 5th). So, yes, there is an advantage in terms of being the worst overall record compared to the 2nd worst record. And my point in that regard is --- who's to say we wouldn't have a worse record than GS last year had we not traded for Drummond? We definitely were on a better pace for it pre-Drummond acquisition

And nonetheless, ALL of that is me getting off my entire point to begin with.. What was the GOAL of acquiring Drummond? To win more games? That would have been stupid, so I don't believe that. To see if he fits into our young core going forward? Well he didn't so if that was the reason then it was an obvious fail. To hold onto him until the deadline the next year and try to flip him for assets since he was an expiring contract? Again, if that was the goal then it was also a fail.

What part of the Drummond acquisition and then buyout was not a fail? I guess that's my question with it all.

I am just fascinated by what he will get away with. What's going to happen?

What do you think are the odds he gets sat on the bench again? I think pretty high?

Glad that's over.
Liked what he gave the Cavs in a number of ways, but for some reason this season he tried to do way too much.
Yeah, the Cavs took an expensive L on this one. But there was always a reason Detroit wanted to move him over.

He'll be the Lakers' new "Dwight". And at that point, I'm good.

If he figures it out on the Lakers, then good for him. It was just never going to happen for him on a team without superstars. I think it was worth the gamble to find out.

I'm skeptical that he will figure it out, especially since he'll be walking into a situation where LeBron and AD are out. Still, if he does, good for him. He seems like a nice enough guy.

Yeah, this is going to be the biggest issue. With an achilles/calf issue, Lakers will be super careful with AD. The last report for LeBron from a couple days ago was 4-6 weeks. That puts him back at the end of April or middle of May. Playoffs start May 22nd this year.

Lakers are probably going to need Drummond to score more for the time being, then he's going to have to make a massive adjustment to being the team's 4th or 5th option once AD and LeBron are back. He's a high usage guy that's going to have maybe 3-4 weeks to figure out how to completely change his game to fit into a championship team. It could happen I guess, but I have my doubts.

I think the adjustments for someone like Blake or Aldridge are much easier. They've made playoff runs and weren't always the best player on the team. Those guys have a better appreciation for what it actually takes to win in the playoffs.

Actually AD is LeBron's "Robin"...

Drummond is Alfred the Butler.
