Cavs Summer League Team

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There ya go Stevens. Playing much better now.

Mobley can't flash his skill in this enviroment. Tough to see what he can do. He has long ways to go before he will be able to have the gravity and the strength to control the game by himself.
It would help if he had anyone who was looking to pass. Every screen he sets, the guard is thinking shoot.

People will take this as me being down on Mobley and that's whatever. Take it how you want.

I was really hoping to be wowed by Mobley in one of these games. It hasn't happened.

Mobley is really good on the perimeter. Guards don't really know what to do when he is matched up against him because of his mixture of length, quickness, stance and positioning.

Same, but it's a process.

This game is bad even by Summer league standards

As I've mentioned before, Hazer is the perfect PG to play next to Mobley in summer league after he spent all last season feeding Sengun in Turkey. Also the next-youngest guy on the team after Okoro and Mobley. Really dumb that we're basically not giving him a chance at all.

Of course you aren't impressed but I don't know what that has to do with Evan Mobley.

He's going to take time for sure. He's in a weird position for a few reasons:

1. He doesn't have the handle or outside shot to be a real threat out on the perimeter.
2. He doesn't have the strength to get himself good looks inside.
3. Selfish Summer League guards aren't setting him up, which is necessary for Mobley to succeed at this stage.

While he does have perimeter skills for a big, they're not good enough for him to play like Giannis or KD. And inside, he's just getting pushed around right now off of his spots. His rookie year isn't going to be amazing, but in time after he adds another 25+ pounds and improves the jumper, I think he'll be pretty special. The passing and IQ are there. So is the defensive versatility. The mobility. And he has fairly good touch, as well. He's just raw, more so than probably a lot of people thought.
