The 10-day competition that features all 30 teams will begin on Sunday, Aug. 8. Each team will play five games. After the fourth matchup, the two teams with the best records will meet in the Championship Game on Tuesday, Aug. 17. The other 28 will complete their schedule on either Aug. 16 or 17 -- an official date to be determined later.
Cleveland’s opener versus Houston, which holds the second pick Thursday night and is scheduled to draft two more players in Round 1, will tip off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 8. It will be carried nationally on ESPN2. The second game is set for Aug. 11 against the Orlando Magic. Two days later, the Cavs will take on the New Orleans Pelicans. The final confirmed matchup is set for Aug. 14 against the New York Knicks.
While the Cavs’ summer league roster won’t be decided until a few days following the draft, sources say the organization is planning to have 2020 first-round pick Isaac Okoro participate. Lamar Stevens, Mfiondu Kabengele and Brodric Thomas are also expected to be on the roster. Dylan Windler, the injury-riddled 2019 first-rounder, is still uncertain. The Cavs will continue to monitor his continued recovery from knee surgery before determining his status.
