"Obvious" Things You Should Have Known But Didn't

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They were absolutely brilliant with lyrics though. Double entendres everywhere.

Also great with harmonies. The big secret of them is the lead singer was actually straight, recruited for his voice. Put together by a gay music producer in the 70"s to be a gay group for pride parades and events and he had worked with the lead singer.

The Village People break up ecause the lead singer was just tired of the amount of sex going on back stage and in the dressing room of their performances. It got to be a bit much for him.

So in a sence the reason the Village People broke up was because the lead singer was straight.

Until this year, I never realized you could use a debit card for fast food. I thought you could pay only in cash.
So @Lee covered this i think, but was this strictly a "debt card" realization or general card realization? Like would you pay for it with cash and credit card and not debt card?

Until recently I always thought the left lane was the fast lane and the right lane was slow.

More of a curtisy thing, a few states where this is law though like Cali.

The most northern MLB team is Seattle north of Toronto (and Montreal)

The majority of the population of canada lives south of seattle

hawaii is the most southern state in the US

NJ always had a Keep Right law that was enforced in the past. Now the slowest line on the NJTP is the left lane Cars Only.

I sometimes get caught off guard not knowing something that, as an adult, I probably should have known.

Two weeks ago I learned that you don't need two spaces after a period. That's not what I learned in typing class. OK Boomer.

One of the biggest laughs I had was on a college spring break. We were eating at restaurant and the Surf & Turf place across the street said Steak and Lobster with a picture of a Cow and a Lobster. My friend said, "I understand the Lobster, but why is there a cow?" Absolute mayhem ensued.

Anybody have any examples of something you didn't know that most humans, or at least adults, should know as a functioning member of society?
Yup, that was my experience. I learned on a manual typewriter and it made good sense, since there is no kerning on a manual typewriter. But with computers and MS Word, you get automatic kerning and space is left after each sentence. Took me about 2-5 years to change my behavior. I'm pretty stubborn.

Delaware is the only US state without commercial international flights.

Pheasant Island has switched ownership between France and Spain every six months for the past 350+ years.

The term “bug” as a reference to a malfunction in a computer or software program originated when a moth got trapped in one of the earliest machines.

Point Roberts, WA, cannot access any other part of the US via land. You have to go through Canada to get to the rest of Washington.

(Might not be obvious stuff, but it looks like we’ve taken some detours into trivia, so I figured I’d add a few.)

Pens and pencils are generally right handed. Left handed pens / pencils are a specialty item.
