2022 Summer League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wait, does Atlanta have anyone taller than 6'5'' out there?

That would explain why Brobley is suddenly able to score inside and grab offensive boards.

Mobley has a ways to go defensively, but he is flashing on offense. I want to see what he can do after getting used to the three point line.
Man I don't know I think soem will look at that box score and think he played well. He was out of sorts a lot. They kept trying to run a two man game with him and nemhard and he is just slow at this level. Maybe that can change, but I don't feel like I'm going out on a limb and saying it probably won't for him.

Travers impacts the game in winning ways, when he went out the Hawks would go on a run. When he came in the run stopped and we would go on a run. He had excellent passing skills that match his vision. Outside of seeing OA do things I wanted this summer league, I was really pleased with how far a long Travers is so far.

They went positionless with four wings and a scoring guard. They were down and played fast to try to take the lead. Brobley struggled in transition defensively.

That doesn't change the fact that Brobley stepped it up as a high post threat in a competitive situation. I also saw Luke at his peak of confidence, looking like the best player on the floor today. Popped two threes and didn't hesitate when open.

Just met Nemhard, couldn't be a dick. Had to hit him with the "good game and good luck"

He makes sense as a two way because he is 6'4 and can dribble. I hope the Cavs don't suffer so many injuries he has to run the point.

I'm currently watching Charlie Moore dominate and get his team involved currently. He is 5'11 undrafted and plays like he is 6'3.

Brandon Goodwin was a 6'0 shoot first combo guard. I was comparing RJ Nembhard to his two-way contract.

I'd love the Cavs to think pass-first point guard with the two-way, but this wasn't the draft to find one. That's why Neto has a contract.

I couldn't watch this one so did Mobley look as decent as his boxscore suggests?

But there are guys not in the NBA that can fill that role. I get Nembhard on paper, but he doesn't do enough, or provide enough upside, to keep him on a 2-way. At least not to me.

Because everybody who knows anything knows that summer league doesn't matter?

So here's my thing.

If it doesn't matter at all, why play any of the rookies at all?

I truly don't get the whole "shut down the rookies for the last game" thing that goes on.

If they get hurt in the 3rd game vs. the last game, will you feel any less stupid? Does playing the 3rd game make a difference that the 4th does not?

I don't think it's about injuries. I just think all they want is to let the rooks get a little run and burn in with all the others and once that's done they don't care about getting every last minute on the court. Just see them do a few things and that's all.

I don't think there's any "development" whatsoever going on. Just a very unstructured scrimmage against a a bunch of guys, many of whom won't even be in the league when this is over. Any and all actual player development will happen after this is over.

It would actually be an awful thing if RCF takes escaped into the real world and resulted in anyone saying nasty things to players to their face. Everyone who plays even close to the NBA level is an athletic god who has likely worked their ass off to get where they are, no matter how much we rag on them here

Ok except maybe for KPJr - he deserves to hear it but he might shoot you
