"How quaint."
"How quaint."
Damn … we lost Nichelle Nichols today. Criminally underutilized in TOS.
Ummmm.. you got the wrong actress for that role.. That was not Nichelle Nichols in Deadpool.Rest In Peace Blind Al! Deadpool will never be the same without you
None of the choices match my answer to the question. How I feel. Voyager and Discovery both pretty much suck with only limited moments of entertainment value. Picard was pretty goof overall, but, not exceptional. New Worlds has been excellent. If you are looking for a Star Trek chow to watch, stick with Strange New Worlds and The Orville, a non Trek show that feels exactly like one of the best Trek shows.
Holy crap, I really thought it was Michele Nichol’s that played Blind Al all these years.Ummmm.. you got the wrong actress for that role.. That was not Nichelle Nichols in Deadpool.
According to IMDB Leslie Uggams played the roommate 'Blind Al' in Deadpool...
Nichelle, not Michele.Holy crap, I really thought it was Michele Nichol’s that played Blind Al all these years.
I put this in the TV Shows thread when it should have been here.
My daughter (home from college) wanted to watch the original Star Trek series this summer. I grew up on that show. I was 3 when it came out, then watched it a few other times, but it's been decades since I watched it. Some of the episodes I remember quite well, but I'm surprised at how many of them I either don't remember at all or only remember a small amount. So I'm having a lot of fun watching it again. I don't think I ever watched the "The Cage" before, only the clips they used for The Menagerie, which were two of the episodes I rememeber well.
She wanted to watch them so we can watch the movies. Only 3 seasons, 79 episodes. Not sure what to do when we get to Generations movie because Star Trek TNG has 178 episodes. Probably save that for next summer.
Those are the only two series I watched completely. I never watched DS9 because I didn't think it would be as good since it wasn't a spaceship and somehow then never watched the other series because I hadn't watched that.
Yeah, probably a good choice. The third season of TOS had some good episodes but is mostly bad.update on this, we leave on vacation in a week. We managed 2 seasons of TOS and then watched the first movie. I decided to skip season 3 so we could get the movies in.
Just about every episode I tell her "this must be the last Star Trek ever because they're going to" (one ore more of these)
- kill Kirk
- kill Spock
- steal the enterprise
- destroy the enterprise
Wait until she sees what happens in the 2nd movie.

They knew they were going to be cancelled and had their budget slashed.
The polyester uniforms also lack the charm of the velour.
The Genesis Trilogy. It was more a time thing. We only have 2 more weeks together, one of them on vacation, before she goes back to school.
We watched movies 2, 3 and 4 tonight.
She liked them. We only planned to watch 1 but she kept wanting to watch the next one. It was 3am when we were done. Voyage home is my favorite. I’ve been waiting all summer to tell her about transparent aluminum. The Genesis Trilogy.
How did she like them?
My son & daughter in law started watching TOS but they were offended by the very high hemlines.
