Game Thread | Game #33 | Bucks @ Cavs | Dec. 21, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sometimes I get the feeling teams like the Bucks don’t try until they absolutely have to. Sometimes it’s too little, too late.

It was a good win. I still have concerns about the offense. But that’s a philosophical difference with JBB.
Sometimes, I get the feeling that JBB will really have these guys ready for the next coach, who will then take them over the top, sometimes less so. But tonight I am hopeful!

I have questions. Why the fu@k does 0k0r0 insist on ruining every group shot with the same pose? Why is a sick Steven’s in the locker room? And is Windler still on the team? I see his grinning face in back row. And tell me what kind of athlete sits like this? zoom in on back right side. Finally, is Cedi really that much taller than Mitchell?

Awesome win to pull within a game of first place. Allen was outstanding with 19 points, 8 boards, and a +16 while guarding Giannis and only fouling once. His defense was terrific.

Mitchell had 26 points in the second half when points were hard to come by, keeping the Cavs ahead when the Bucks made their runs. He finished with 36 and a +15.

Love was a team high +17 in 29 minutes off the bench. He had to play more than usual due to Mobley being in foul trouble early, but he responded.

Bottom line is this time the Cavs' didn't break when the Bucks went into overdrive. Mitchell and Garland kept getting the buckets to keep them ahead. The defense forced 19 turnovers and held the Bucks to 106 points despite unusually good 3-point shooting by the Bucks, who hit 43.3%. Normally they make 33% on the road.

Giannis goes left almost every time and just throws himself at whoever is guarding him and gets the call. His ability to get the offensive rebound after missing a layup is amazing. He's like a pogo stick where he's right back at the rim rebounding his own missed layup before anybody else can get to it. The combination of quickness, length, and power is crazy. He had 45 points - nobody else had more than 14.

How often do you see a guy score 45 without hitting a 3?

Really good win against the #1 ranked team in the NBA in The Athletic power poll. The combination of having Allen for the entire game and playing at home was the difference. But they need to figure out how to defend Giannis better without giving up uncontested 3's. And how to beat them when Middleton returns to form.

Don has his shoes off already in this pic so it’s like Pre 2019 combine vs Post 2019 Combine

Allen offered next to no resistance. And in a playoff series, he’ll wear down quickly.

And don’t see these Cavs ever taking a leap. Terrible coach first and foremost. But with Garland/Mitchell pounding the air out of the ball, Garland wont ever develop. They’ll win 50 games and seemingly make the second round but the East belongs to the Bucks until Giannis retires.

Giannis has won the East a grand total of 1 time.

He’s great but let’s call down a bit. He hasn’t been to 8 straight finals or anything.

Yep.

The Bucks will probably be the better team this year, and probably next year.

But, if Mobley's growth continues, and Garland and Mitchell continue to improve their game together, and the Cavs find some sort of solution at SF, the Cavs should eventually overpower the Bucks.

That moment will come, like the moment Anakin Skywalker finally overpowered Count Dooku after a number of losses.

You know, I'm not sure that the Bucks have as long of a shelf life as people seem to think. Giannis will be MVP-level for the foreseeable future, but the rest of the core is much older than he is and they're pretty tapped out on assets.

Giannis is 28, but:
  • Middleton is 31 and has been really banged up in the last year
  • Jrue is 32 and has also missed a bunch of time with injuries in the last 2 seasons
  • Brook is having maybe the best year of his career but is 34 and had major back surgery in the last year.
There may be a point shortly where Giannis has to be superhuman to keep the Bucks near the top.

Good win at home vs probable champ team. I really don't vet the bitching..

Mitchell is our guy.. Allen Garland great in support and Mobley is not near peak yet. Vert and Okoro doing some dirty work, Love and Cedi chipping in.. We got us an f'ing squad..
