2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Traded to OKC and waived. His career is over.

No moral bankrutcy they are trading to get rid of contracts and pick up some 2nd round picks. They will cut him immediately so no issue on trading for KPJ.

They are specifically profiting from KPJ's off-court actions. So, just one questionable headline for a day and then everyone tries to forget.

Nah, that's too harsh a take. He's (rightly) regarded as having no value to any team. OKC is simply eating his salary as a means to dump more salary and pick up a couple of 2nd round picks. I don't see any problems with what they did. Is the only morally acceptable outcome that Houston just releases him? I don't think so.

I don't think the timing today was coincidental. KPJ a little less bad a headline since it turns out he didn't break his girflriend's vertebrae while fighting with her. This is not an argument I care enough about to fight out, but there is a big picture here beyond how KPC's salary works in a trade outlined in a Wojo tweet. This specific outline of trade (profit from KPJ salary dump) was debated by posters far upthread.

This guy has a drug problem

Saw his girl walked the statement back. She was a flash in the pan wnba player and a settlement with him was in retrospect easiest payday of her life. One gets the sense these people may be seeing their lives flash before their eyes at present. So glad this circus is far away from the Cavs. Koby gets an A+ on this one.

Probably his single best decision as Cavs GM.

For cleaning up his own mess and wasting an asset in the process?? His homework should've been done on this one
We’ve been over this a million times. It was a calculated risk. Trade some minor assets and get a guy with lottery talent, and see if he can thrive within your organizational structure. (Mind you, this was before Allen, before Mobley, and before Spida. The Cavs needed to kick over every rock they could to find talent.). The risk didn’t pay off obviously, but that doesn’t make the decision a bad one.
