Round 5 - Pick 140 - Dorian Thompson-Robinson, QB, UCLA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Its incredibly tough to throw an interception on a 5 yard pass. Not impressive. It's 90% of his throws that were basically uninterceptible

Were you impressed by how easily our offense moved the ball? Especially when we werent in Steelers territory starting with the ball?

You open that gameplan up and continue to see not finding open players and picks. There's a reason we didn't trust him to throw down field
I said it was a good day for a rookie QBs second game against a great defense.

And in an NFL where roughly 25 of the 50 QBs that have started this year actively lose their teams games, throwing uninterceptible balls for ~200 yards might actually be enough for this team

so open up the playbook and revert to g1. Cool.

1.5q of passes that didn't make it past the line of scrimmage today. The offense is either 1. Fucked or 2. Fucked with him, depending on what strategy you wanna roll with.
Game 1 was him running an offense that is made for your franchise QB whose played at an NFL MVP level before with a 5th round rookie.

Today was readjusting DTR and managing the game for him. Believe it or not, there is an in between level there that can make this offense good again. And wanting some high flying attack against Pittsburgh, the team that leads the league in takeaways, with your 5th round rookie QB?

Manage your expectations. I'll say the deepest pass he did throw today, he threw with both a lot of zip (!!!) and accuracy.

Is this team the one you want to rationalize the quality of a 3ypa game bc he's a rookie? Best start since 94 and it's 3 games we've escaped by the skin of our teeth

Qbr of like 30 guys. 30.

Pittsburgh broke literally one play today and it was almost enough to beat us. Shame to demand and expect that much from the defense

This is the Peyton Manning “we don’t practice fucked,” theory. Except they’re PLAYING fucked.

The offense is ALREADY fucked. We’re trying to figure out which angle is going to result in the least amount of damage to our assholes.

It MIGHT be rolling with DTR and seeing if the reason he’s been what he’s been was because of extenuating circumstances. I think so.

Yeah actually it is. Taking care of the ball against the defense leading the league in turnovers is actually a big deal. He played to the gameplan, and executed the most important drive of the game

Name a QB that you don't trust to throw 5 yards without throwing a pick

I think we’ll see Stefanski open the playbook up for him more in the Broncos game.

He’ll have more time to throw. Nowhere near the pass rush the Steelers do.

He’ll have time to throw beyond the sticks a few more times, and to check on more slow developing explosive plays. I do wonder if Stefanski is gunshy about running DTR though.

Ford should be more effective also

Yep.

Steelers have a top 3 overall defense and pass rush in the league, including one TJ Watt who is comparable across the board to our very own Flash.

That’s all GONE next week.

I think we’ll see a couple more shots at Amari downfield, and maybe a big gain or two from chief. I don’t know what the hell they’ll do with Moore. It seems like he’s figuring him out.

All it really takes is two big chunk plays out of your receivers and it’s the difference between 0 points and 6-14 points.

Pj walker
Anyways, i just finished rewatching the game. And I'm even more impressed with DTR having watched both 2 minute drills at the end of each half. Guy was throwing smart, accurate passes. We damn well should have been up 14-0 at the end of the first half if Njoku could hang onto anything today. Dropped a perfect ball right in the endzone.

He did throw further than 5 yards. In fact, on his final drive, he put a few DOTS down the field.

When he needed to, he hit some great throws. But that's not what the game plan called for today.

His games have been against the two best defenses in the league.

I want to see what he does against one of the worst ones after the boost from that very legitimate GW drive.

This has worked out pretty good for the Browns.

That isnt entirely true, only in practice can DTR play the best defense in the league. :chuckle:
