2023-24 Season | Game #78 | Cavs @ Clippers | April 7, 2024 | 3:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I still think Garland has it in him to play much better than he has with better coaching. As ugly as it can still look sometimes, today's game was still a step in the right direction for DG.

I just don't buy the coaching excuse. He's regressed, I can't sit there and point to JBB.

And yes, I understand he doesn't fit with Mitchell. That is definitely a huge problem, but even still, he was better than this last year.

And even with Mitchell out he's regressed and not been able to resemble the player he was. It's sad to see, I'm not big Garland fan, but I don't think he's dogshit.

Either way, he doesn't fit here. And I see no reason why they choose to keep him.

A lot of people seem to think the roster is fine, put me in the minority, that doesn't think they are that talented TBH.

Even if people believe that, a lot of the pieces just don't fit. I find it extremely annoying if Koby chooses to ignore this once again, and believes a coaching change makes everything better.

I think that's just putting a band-aide on a gunshot wound. This is a very limited team, that isn't destined to do very much.

Darius Garland’s 4th quarter:
@10:37 bad pass stolen by Amir Coffey
@4:11 lost ball turnover stolen by Westbrook
@2:19 bad pass to Norman Powell
@1:37 misses driving layup
@0:37.1 misses driving floating jump shot
@0:01.1 Paul George blocks Garland’s 2 foot shot

We’ve seen this movie before

He was on fumes going into the last three minutes. I'm not blaming him for those. Don played the same way on his second game b2b 40 minute game in the closing minutes and OT against Chicago.

Also worth pointing out that Garland scored or assisted all of the Cavs’ 4th quarter points outside of free throws (scored 9, assisted 6).

I was at the game and clippers were only worried about Garland. His mistake was a couple of the turnovers late but fuckin strus has been dribbling off his foot every game since he’s been back from injury and Allen is so soft! So many missed bunnies instead of going up strong. Anyway Garland didn’t lose this game the dumb ass coach who doesn’t make any adjustments til the lead was gone did…

I do think this team is very talented. You can go down the roster...every single player, Garland, Mitchell, Mobley, Allen, Strus, Okoro, Wade, LeVert...they all have stretches where they play absolutely lights out. And they actually do it fairly regularly. Strus for example looked exceptional today. But they rarely play well at the same time, and fit is a major concern.

Big difference when your best player is a big wing and not a small guard. Just saying.
Brunson is example of the small guard too, but Garland is G-league bum compared to him.

They never can figure out how to play an entire game it seems, which can be incredibly infuriating.

Indeed , he was 4 for 9 with 3 assists. Interesting to note that this is your first and only post of the entire 2023-24 Cavalier season, I might add.

Sure, they are a playoff team. But define how talented do you think they are.

They are not as good as the Sixers, Bucks, Knicks, or Celtics at a talent standpoint at all. Those teams are definitely better. You can replace any coach you want, those teams are going to beat the Cavs in a 7 game series.

Their max ceiling to me is getting out of the first round. Not under JBB. Under a really good coach, that's not very exciting to me.

Strus annoys me at times, because I trust him taking big shots but he has poor composure and picks up techs at the worst moments.

Those teams have a true identity and have several players that can dominate a game. They can at any point in a game over power their opponent .

We are not as talented as the Celtics or Sixers.

The Bucks are a tossup only because of Giannis. But I do think the Cavs talent is capable of beating the Bucks. Mobley always plays Giannis well, and I think we match up well against them in general.

The Knicks similarly don't have more talent than us, but they do play way more physical and rebound much better, so we'd lose against them.

This Cavs team has a lot of issues, but "overall talent" isn't one of them. There was a time not even 2 months ago that JBB was forced to expand to a 10-11 man rotation because so many of our players were consistently performing and deserved minutes.

There are absolutely areas where this team can and should be improved, but I don't think anyone would agree that JB is maximizing the talents of this roster at all. A coaching change needs to happen first and foremost, if not just to increase the trade value of these guys even more.
