I still don't think he'll be fired. I'm not advocating for him to keep his job. They should have replaced him last year.

But too many people aren't seeing it in the eyes of the Cavs and Koby.

1.) Koby clearly believes in him. Does that make him an idiot? Maybe, but he does.

2.) Coaches rarely get fired, after one fuck up of a year.

We as fans may see this as long deserving, but that's us fans. But not in Koby or the Cavs eyes, when they've been high on him. And after one season, where they can't deny was disappointing, they just fire him.

I seriously doubt he gets canned.

And most importantly of all, once Koby fires him, he puts himself on the hot seat. If the next season is a disaster, HE'S gone.

Koby is not that stupid. He's going to keep JBB IMO. He's going to make some moves. And when that doesn't work, JBB is definitely gone.

Koby may be too, but possibly could be saved. If he fires JBB, and next year is a bust, he just canned himself.

So ask yourselves, is he stupid/ballsy enough to do that?

The only way JBB is fired, if everyone is fired after the season. Which, I'm not suggesting shouldn't be on table, I just doubt that is the case.
If he fails to convince DM to Extend, his job is on the hot seat anyway. If he's smart he'd go all in and offer DM anything he wants, including a of choice coach and teammates. In fact, he should have done this as soon as Spida came here.

The FO can say injuries, injuries, injuries until they are blue in the face. Fortunately for us fans, Mitchell isn't going to give a $#!+ about the excuses when it comes time to sit down for extension talks imo. It will force serious changes that this FO was too complacent to make and Don will likely ask for a no-trade clause to re-sign [like Beal did].

Ideally, I'd re-sign Don, bring every player back next season, and get Don's input for a new coach. If we see the same results under a new coach, it's time for a rebuild.

Waiting to make moves could be a dicey situation. If the Cavs bring everyone back and it looks the same, suddenly a guy like DG could lose a lot of trade value. Considering he’ll make almost $40M in’25-‘26, DG could be borderline untradeable after two back-to-back seasons like the one he’s having now. If you can get a commitment from Mitchell, I think you have to make some moves to improve long-term fit for Mitchell and Mobley.

We know this was how it was always going to end when the Cavs didn't fire him last May.
Never made sense to bring him back. Now we’ve not only ruined team chemistry, run our star players into the ground, and failed to adequately develop any of our talent, but we’ve wasted another prime year and likely set in motion losing Mitchell who I think would genuinely want to stay if our culture was better. Absolute failure on all accounts.

Should be gone after last night, and Altman unfortunately should be gone this offseason even though I think overall he’s done a good job. But sticking with this numbskull outweighs any positives

Knicks overtaking us in the standing with OG and Randle out the last few weeks, and Robinson out the entire season. The difference a good coach makes

I hope he's fired, I just doubt it, because I think Koby really believes in him.

Unless the Cavs miss the playoffs (it's not happening), yeah, he's gone if that happens.

Make the ECF? Really, that's crazy expectations to put on JBB. This team is not good enough to make it that far.

There's no one outside the Cavs circle, that believes this is the second best team in the East. lol. That's crazy to fire a coach for that.

I think it's more likely Koby makes a big trade. Maybe he will can him. Obviously a change is going to be made. I'm looking at it from the optics stand point.

If Koby believes in JBB as a coach, for whatever reason, I doubt he goes that way. Maybe Koby doesn't believe in him anymore, and does can him.

It's fine with me, I'm just don't think fans should count on it.

If I were the Cavs, I'd clean house. I'd send both packing. That's not happening though.

Because you are right about one thing. We are having no success in the playoffs with Mitchell. Again, whose fault is that?

I blame Koby for that.

There actually is a chance the Cavs miss the Playoffs. We have 3 games left. If we lose 2 and win 1, and the 76ers + Pacers win out, we're in the play in. And I think every playoff and play in team is licking their chops to play us.

I think you're very wrong with your entire rationale. You're so hyper fixated on the conference finals point that you don't realize the bar is set intentionally high because they want to get rid of him. Koby keeping JBB is a bigger mark on him than getting rid of him. If you've seen your team crash and burn after February 3 years in a row and you don't fire your coach... People are going to think you don't deserve your job. The Bucks fired a better coach. The Raptors fired a coach who had just won coach of the year. Warriors. Ultimately all the Cavs have in the last three seasons is a play-in loss to a worse team, a playoff loss to a worse team but being dominated, and now a crash and burn going into the playoffs. Congrats, you won over 50 games once since LeBron left... MUCH better coaches have been let go than JBB because the franchises realized they're not as good as the record would indicate. The optics are the Cavs suck and are losing to bottom of the barrel teams which they should be beating without one or two stars.

Koby should make a trade, but he also needs to get rid of JBB. This team is on a treadmill of mediocrity.
