Draft Express trade rumor: Jamison to Cavaliers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like this rumor, if the 5 is included. If not, I would look for other options, but at #5, James Harden from Arizona State is my #1 option. About two days ago, it looked pretty clear that Harden would likely drop to five with Blake, Rubio, Thabeet, and Jennings going in the top 4, but now that Ricky seems to hate the idea of going to Memphis, and OKC is rumored to like Harden more than Thabeet even, but if Harden did fall, he would be the pick. Great offensive player, long, good size, decent defensively, team player... He's often been compared to Manu Ginobili and especially Paul Pierce. He could be a star, and I would even say that he is the best offensive player in this class, as in he can score in more ways than anyone else can in this draft. He can drive, shoot, create his own, shoot off the dribble, catch and shoot, you may even see him back down! I would even do this deal if we had to include #30 or #46, but we'll see what Ferry can do for us.

I'd do it only if the 5th were included, or without the 5th if it was for Javale an Caron.

If they're reluctant to part with the 5th pick, maybe we could ask for Javale McGee?

I'd almost rather go after the 5th pick instead of Jamison. Mike James and #5 for Pavs, TK and #30. Then we'd still have expiring contracts of Mike James and Ben Wallace, along with Hickson and another good young prospect to build for the future or use in a deal for a guy like Bosh.

Interesting that Washington's name has come up in trade talks again. Pretty sure we were rumored to be talking to them at this past deadline.

I'd definitely do it without the 5th if they included Javale, he's a future all-star IMO.

If you conclude that McGee is a potiential all star, why would Washington give up on him after 1 year??
And why would Washington just give up the 5th pick when a decent player can be had?

I don't like any move that keeps us from being able to make a move in 2010. If we do make a move that does that it has to be for someone young, imo.

Getting Jamison would be nice if not for his contract being so long and him being on the tail end of his career. Also, it seems like there are maybe 4 top-notch players in this draft and the rest have a bunch of question marks (Griffin, Thabeet, Rubio, Harden). Demar Derozen or Tyreke Evans would be nice picks, but I'm not sure they're ready to contribute right away, and who knows how much longer Jamison will be able to perform at his current level.

If the Hawks would do Smith for Ben, I'd rather do that. He's younger and a better defender. Can't shoot like Jamison, but he has a lot more potential going forward and is likely only going to get better.

There are very few moves we can make that keep us 2010 flexible. Signing AV basically means we have no chance at signing a Bosh come 2010.

Only way we can get two max contracts in 2010 is if we get worse this off season.

If we somehow end up with the no. 5 pick, who would we most likely go after? No way Thabeet is there for a Z replacement, but any other taller high quality wing'ish players?

Based on Draft Express' mock and who is likely to be available, these would be our likely choices:

1. Stephen Curry, G Davidson- we know Lebron loves this guy's game; he would have to be the prohibitive favorite. Like his dad, Curry is a long range bomber.
2. Tyeke Evans, G Memphis- stud freshman, who can play some point, but is probably a better 2 guard in the NBA.
3. Jordan Hill, PF/C Arizona- big man would provide much needed depth in the frontcourt. Hill is long and he has the ability to play some center.

Personally, I would rather take Evans, but, knowing how much Lebron likes Curry, I just can't see them passing him up. A Curry selection would seemingly put Daniel Gibson on the trade block.

I would take McGee in place of the 5th pick as well. In that scenario, the Wiz could replace McGee with Jordan Hill at #5.

There's no way they give up on McGee (and his low salary) after 1 year. As far as the #5 pick is concerned, they don't want to pay for the #5 pick and in order to convince someone to take on a contract like they gave Jamison, a high draft pick is likely going to have to be included. This would give them a TON more cap flexability in 2010 to add another piece to go along with a healthy Arenas/Butler/Blatche/McGee/Young/etc... actually, I've just convinced myself that Washington would be stupid not to do this trade (even with the #5 included) ASAP!

When will people realize that there's no chance we'll have the money to sign a max FA in 2010? I'm getting blue in the face I have to repeat it so much.

Could this work?

Wizards get:
Wallace
Sasha
JJ

Phoenix get:
Jamison
Mike James
#5 pick

Cavs get:
Amare

No that couldn't work. Suns want to shed salary, not take on Jamison's contract.

But back to the topic at hand, it's a tough choice if #5 is on the table. Jamison's good, but he's not exactly an impact player. There is only so much you can get from him and there is a lot of downside if he can't play anymore.

Cavs better truly love the player they'd get at #5 because Jamison's contract could ruin the team if he comes up lame, just like how Gilbert Arenas is ruining Washington.

ughhhh no thanks.... Jamison is old and over paid... he could be a good fit for us but those are our two biggest trading pieces and I think we could get more

but if the #5 were included I guess I would warm up to it but even then this draft blows so I dont think I would

gotta love Danny being active...my man is doing work
