I was at the game tonight...and I am proud of our fans. As soon as Z stood up, the crowd started yelling "ZZZZ" and cheering loudly. It was pretty awesome.
I wish I could say I am proud of our organization though. Unless I missed something, they did not acknowledge Z at all, nothing on the scoreboard, no announcement, nothing. And I figured he would be the first sub in to recognize him, but he wasn't. It seems awfully strange to me that they are treating him this way. Maybe I missed something, anyone else go that can tell me I did?
I was a Z basher for his poor play earlier, but that didn't mean I didn't appreciate all of the years he has been here and the class act he has been, and he played pretty darn good tonight to boot... I think the whole organization screwed this whole thing up. But that is just my opinion. It is past now and it will be forgotten by most.
Still celebrating...Has PIP dropped in yet?
Anyone watch that and still think MB did the right thing Sat.??
Yeah....I'm not feeling too good after watching that interview. Z seemed pretty upset still, and I honestly can't blame him. MB really dropped the ball on this one and needs to make things right before anything else goes wrong.
Congrats and mazel tov to Big Z though. I was so happy to see the fans give him a standing O tonight, reminding him that even though our coach might not have his mind wrapped around what #11 means to this city, at least Cavs fans do.
He still IS upset. In having an opportunity to talk to a few people, it realy was even more of a slight than just the actions of not playing Z in that game. I can't go into much detail here, other than to say that it's an issue that exists between the player and head coach.
It's just a sickeningly pathetic and sad situation that was completely uncalled for. Noone can understand the logic behind what is going on there, and no good answers have been forthcoming from the head coach.
The story really ends here unless repercussions from it result in future changes.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- When Zydrunas Ilgauskas finally played his 724th game for the Cavaliers, there was no official acknowledgement. No announcements were made, no formal presentations.
That's the way the 11th-year center wanted it.
Not that the crowd at The Q needed the help. When Ilgauskas rose from the bench and lumbered toward the scorer's table with 4:11 left in the first quarter Wednesday, a deep chorus of "Zeeeeee!" echoed throughout the arena.
When he finally stepped on the court, breaking Danny Ferry's Cavaliers record for games played, the fans rose and clapped, giving Ilgauskas a standing ovation for the full duration of the Cavaliers' offensive possession. They stood and screamed and yelled out "Zeeee" in deep baritones from every corner of the arena, from the floor to the rafters.
"That was one of the coolest things I've experienced in my life, and also the closest I've probably come to tears on the basketball floor," Ilgauskas said. "I very much appreciate it and thank them."
Fans bellowed each time Ilgauskas touched the ball the remainder of the night, and his record-setting game played also came with another honor -- he moved into third all-time in franchise scoring, ahead of Austin Carr (10,265 points), trailing only LeBron James and Brad Daugherty.
The franchise record for game's played came one contest later than expected, when Ilgauskas recorded the first "Did Not Play -- Coach's Decision" of his career Saturday against Dallas.
Cavaliers coach Mike Brown went with a smaller lineup to match the Mavericks. Ilgauskas' anger at the situation was apparent; he refused media interview requests for two days, and James spoke out in support of his 7-3 center Monday and said Brown was wrong to not play Ilgauskas.
After Wednesday's game, when Ilgauskas finally broke the longevity record he has said he would value most among other Cavaliers records he holds (rebounds and blocks), he did not take reporter's questions and spoke only briefly to address the situation that has shadowed the team this week.
"Obviously I was very disappointed that I didn't play in the last game," he said. "I know I'm a good player. I think by me playing in that game, I would not have affected the outcome of the game. What made me more disappointed and upset were the acts that followed. This whole mess that has been created.
"I'm not going to go into any details. Once again, I'm going to be a bigger man and walk away from this. I know when I go to bed at night, my conscience is clear. What I'm going to do is continue to do my job. I love this team, I love my teammates; they're like a family to me. I'm going to come every day to work and try my hardest, win some games and hope to bring a championship to this city because they deserve it."
This has been a season of new experiences for Ilgauskas, who is coming off the bench for the first time as a backup to Shaquille O'Neal.
After Wednesday's game, everyone from teammates to Brown to owner Dan Gilbert praised Ilgauskas and spoke in support of the 34-year-old center.
"It was terrific for him and his family that he accomplished that feat," said Brown, who said Tuesday that he wouldn't elaborate on any personal conversation he had with Ilgauskas.
"I don't really consider him my backup. I consider him my partner," O'Neal said. "He plays 20 minutes, I play 20 minutes. It doesn't matter to me who starts. He hasn't complained, he has done his job and I think that we are good for each other.
"He has been a great player for this franchise. If he wouldn't have had the foot injuries, he would've had [the record] a long time ago."
