Wild Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Also like I said maybe they could flip Okafor into hedo whom they have interest in, I am sure that Toronto would do it as okafor is the perect type of player to paly next to Bargs.

So four team deal with Hedo going to Sacto, Okafor to Toronto, Bosh, CP3 to Cleveland

NOH does that in a heartbeat.

Are you being sarcastic here? I don't think there's any way NOH even considers the proposed 3-way trade unless they get Sacto's 5th pick as well. If Delonte, Jamario, JJ, Boobie and Sacto's 2nd is enough for CP3 and Okafor, I'd do that trade straight up and send them our 2012 first rounder. Cut out Sacto.

I would tend to agree, just thinking of a way to get NOH a few more assets than what we can offer as well as not having to take that albatross of a contract Okafor has. We don't have a second FYI (traded to PHX). Plus our 2nd would be the 60th selection, where as Sacs would be the 35th, huge difference.

We would obviously do that, but I don't think that we have the salary to match unless Shaq were to agree to a S&T and then buyout to either NOH, or TOR. We could use Wally, but the problem with signing him for a huge deal is that the NBA would definately frown upon it.

Torontos line up would be Jack/Bellinelli/Derozan/Okafor/Bargs and that would be ugly....

Sacs line up would be Mo/Evans/Hedo/Landry/Hawes?

NOH line up would be Collison/Thorton/Peja/West/???

Clevelands line up would be Paul/Parker/LeBron/Bosh/Andy? OMG I think that I would cry. But it is unrealistic to get Bosh, it is extremely unrealistic to get Paul, and to get both of them, well we should remember this is Cleveland.

As I see it, there aren't alot of impressive moves that could be made right now.

There's the rumored 5th/6th picks which would definitely send a message to LeBron and there's Darren Collison, who LeBron would hear about from Chris Paul and hopefully give the kid a chance.

I can't see Iguodala being moved at all this summer, Doug Collins seems to really like him. But I guess if you throw in Brand's contract it might be possible.

This wasn't worth starting a new thread over, but I didn't want to just throw it in with the Darren Collison threads either, since it's more than that. Anyways, I'm proposing that two trades could be made to lock in some serious talent for a long time. I think restarting the Amar'e talk could be worth it since Bosh is probably headed for Miami anyways. Here's what I've got:

Three Way Trade with Phoenix and Sacramento = Trade #1

Cleveland Trades: Mo Williams ($9.3), Delonte West ($4.65), J.J. Hickson ($1.53), Jamario Moon ($2.97), and $3M cash (PHX)
Cleveland Obtains: Amar'e Stoudemire ($17.1) and Andres Nocioni ($6.85)

Outgoing Salary: $18.45M (Magic minimum number = $17.96M)
Incoming Salary: $23.95M

Phoenix Trades: Amar'e Stoudemire ($17.1)
Phoenix Obtains: Delonte West ($4.65), J.J. Hickson ($1.53), Spencer Hawes* ($2.97), Jamario Moon ($2.97), 2011 second round pick (SAC), and cash (CLE)

Outgoing Salary: $17.1M
Incoming Salary: $12.1M

Sacramento Trades: Andres Nocioni ($6.85), Spencer Hawes* ($2.97), and 2011 second round pick (to PHX)
Sacramento Obtains: Mo Williams ($9.3)

Outgoing Salary: $9.82M
Incoming Salary: $9.3M

*Can sub Jason Thompson for Spencer Hawes

I think given the fact that Amar'e can just walk, this is a pretty good trade for Phoenix, they also pick up a $5M trade exception. Phoenix will gain some salary relief in Delonte's contract and cash. They also pick up two young players with some serious potential in Hickson and Hawes (or Thompson). I really like Jamario's game and I think placing him in a high tempo environment will only maximize his talents. I think he fits better than Parker and I'm sure they'd prefer Moon to Parker. A future pick from Sacramento finishes it for Phoenix.

Sacramento sheds Nocioni's contract and picks up Mo Williams. They can keep their lottery pick and draft another big. Which is why I sent out either Hawes or Thompson. They simply give up a future second rounder to Phoenix. I don't think this is beyond reasonable for this team. Mo Williams for a player who wants out, a young project, and a future second rounder. They shed salary and pick up talent in the same deal. Pretty simple here.

This is all about obtaining Amar'e Stoudemire for Cleveland. Giving him a max deal where either teams may not is key here. As is absorbing Nocioni's contract, which really isn't that bad and can be turned into a nice trade chip the season after next. The biggest loss here is Mo Williams. You have to give up talent in order to get some back. West is pure money deal. Hickson is young talent that Phoenix would need to get back.

Trade with New Orleans = Trade #2

Cleveland Trades: Sebastain Telfair ($2.7), Wally Szczerbiak (S&T - $4M), 2011 second round pick, and $3M cash
Cleveland Obtains: Darren Collison ($1.36) and James Posey ($6.48)

Outgoing Salary: $6.7M (Magic minimum number = $5.88M)
Incoming Salary: $7.84M

New Orleans Trades: Darren Collison ($1.36) and James Posey ($6.48)
New Orleans Obtains: Sebastain Telfair ($2.7), Wally Szczerbiak ($4M), and 2011 second round pick

Outgoing Salary: $7.84M
Incoming Salary: $6.7M

This one I think is a little harder to complete. It's less of a money deal because Delonte has been used already in Phoenix. Signing Wally to a $4M contract (second two team options) is to make the money work and generate an expiring contract (although, there's no buy-out like Delonte's). The immediate savings isn't as great, saving them only a little over $1M. But, they do gain a backup point guard with talent in Telfair who's contract does expire after next year. So it's more of a balanced talent-money deal which I figure the new owner may care more about. The following year is where New Orleans benefits since Wally and Telfair would expire and Posey's contract would be off the books. That's approximately a $12M swing, plus they pick up a second round pick.

The benefit to Cleveland is obvious. The pickup of a young point guard who has shown some nice flashes. The point guard position would be locked down for a while between Gibson and Collison. Absorbing Posey, isn't that bad of a thing because he is a good role player. I haven't seen much of him since he went to New Orleans, but he does have championship experience and has had a reputation for being a defender.

Cleveland Lineup

PG: Daniel Gibson ($4.01)/Darren Collison ($1.36)
SG: Anthony Parker ($2.86)/James Posey ($6.48)/Danny Green ($0.75M)
SF: LeBron James ($17.1)/Andres Nocioni ($6.85)
PF: Amar'e Stoudemire ($17.1)/Antawn Jamison ($13.35)/Leon Powe ($0.91M)
C: Anderson Varejao ($7)/MLE Free Agent ($6.5)

Salary committed 2010-11 = Approximately $84.3M + $6M in cash for trades = $90.3M total

I really like this roster. You have some youth in the point guard position with real talent. I start Gibson over Collison because chances are LeBron will be handling the ball anyways and it wouldn't hurt to have Gibson out there to be ready to knock down shots. Collison would run the second unit. Amar'e Stoudemire gives LeBron a powerful low post tandem with explosiveness (admittedly some of that has decreased). He still has years left in his prime and I would really like him on this team. Teaming him up with Varejao could help mask his defensive weakness. Varejao and Stoudemire can each spend time at the center spot, which is an advantage due to flexibility. The bench also gains an upgrade in Posey and Nocioni. Both are capable defenders and are capable of hitting the outside shot. Jamison becomes the leading offensive weapon off the bench.

Why in the world would Boobie start over Darren Collison?

If I were to guess what our approach was going to be this off season, I would think that we would be looking to try and pull off some sort of blockbuster trade that might land us a very valuable piece via trade.

Some are looking at the MLE as a vehicle, and sure ..that will be one we look into.

But, with the number of contracts we have available, and players ..I think if a highly valued piece might be available to be obtained via trade, we may really work hard to try and pull one off this off season.

In speculating what players around the league we might try and check into to see of their availability in trade, I think the first name on the list would have to be Chris Paul.

I know ...doesn't seem likely that it could be possible. And probably isn't, quite frankly. But ..that team is having some pretty bad economic issues, and we might be able to use that as leverage toward possibly getting them to listen.

We'd likely have to incorporate adding a bad contract or contracts to help them consider anything.. but, I could see them listening if we were to maybe throw some quality assets, with prospects, money and also pick off some bad contracts on their team.

Obviously for someone of value like Paul you'd have to give them lots. Talking talent, money, prospects, and taking on bad contract or contracts.

But, if we toss in a Mo Williams, a JJ Hickson, Danny Gibson, one of our large expirings, and take on maybe someone like Sojakovic's contract... it might get their interest.

It may not work, but this "Trade Rumors & Ideas" subject line will be the most active area of this site come summer. I would suspect that trying to pull off a major trade is going to be on Danny Ferry's wish list in trying to find a great young "Pippen" to put alongside Lebron.

Nobody in the league would make him happier than Chris Paul. He is closest to him, than anyone else in the league not playing for the Cavs. He is really like family within the James inner circle.

If a way exists to get New Orleans to listen and contemplate trading a guy like Paul ...we might just have the will, desire, and ability to put together a great package that would pique their interest.

Other players around the league might also interest us if Paul isn't feasible. But, in speculating things that might happen with us come summertime. Look especially at the possible trade options we may look to, to try and bring that key high valued piece to our team via trade, since we won't be able to just straight out get in on the buying spree of potential high end free agents.

While all these teams line up and take their swings at these free agents that are highly publicized. Be aware that Danny Ferry and Dan Gilbert are sitting back and have been strategizing of ways our team can participate this summer, in possibly landing a marquee player to our team as well ...even though it may not be the free agent route.

Should be a fun summer with lots of activity present throughout the league. I have a feeling that Danny Ferry and Dan Gilbert will find a way to make some big headlines themselves, this coming summer.

Just have this feeling, the way Dan Gilbert has been talking about this coming summer. He gives you that look, and that feel that when he talks about how the media talks up how everyone is stepping up and stealing Lebron from us ... he says, these people that have been saying all these things should realize that we might just be the one team that is set better than anyone to not only have Lebron at the end of the day ...we might be the one team, more than all others, that can put the second big piece alongside him, and have the ability to do it...

Dan Gilbert just gives me this feel that he's not gonna sit by and be an innocent bystander this summer.

Watch and see ..should be interesting this summer.

When I wrote the above about four months ago, I had no idea how close the reality would play out. It truly was wild speculation at that point. But, the coming days will be very key to how the future plays out for the Cavaliers.

As many that know me know now, I'm really not tied close to the day to day goings on with the team, but do get wind of many things through other channels. The team is more active than at any time in trying to reconfigure the roster, and bring a big name in ... along with that also options that get us into the draft in a variety of ways.

Lebron wants to stay in Cleveland, he truly does ...but, the team has to have some strong success in finally getting the team around him that he covets. We have big trade options on the burner that could answer many of his concerns. Hopefully , for the sake of the franchise, I hope they are successful in getting done what they need to.

Here we go again!

To quote Jim Carrey in one of the greatest movies ever. "So Your telling me there's a chance"

If a trade goes down I'm going to print this message out and shove it up Jalen Rose's ass.

Please don't let Chris Broussard find out about the trade!!!
