Cavs close to multiple trades? (Hoopsworld Speculation)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

I really don't like the idea of trotting out a team that's just good enough to grab a 7th or 8th seed next year. While it may be working the system and seemingly an easy way out...I'd much prefer the idea of hitting the lottery two years in a row and putting the GM's eye for talent to the test.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Gaaahhhhh.... I just want moves to be made already so I can move on.

Positive news would be nice and can't come soon enough.

Bring him in!

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

The only way a starting lineup of Mo Williams, Anthony Parker, Antawn Jamsion, JJ Hickson, and Al Jefferson even come close to competiting is with a defensive minded coach such as Mike Brown. Which is fairly ironic if you ask me.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Please God no. The Cavs must re-build......Dan needs to get his head out of the clouds.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

He is not a real center.

Do you think Minnesota would be getting rid of him if he was a real center?

He has an inch and ten lbs on Hickson.

He's a just-right rized power forward.

He is a real center by the fact that he knows how to play like a center. He has a very pure post game, and plays bigger and stronger than he is. JJ can dunk. A center is not limited to 7+ feet. sorry.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

This would be a nice move, but need more to happen to make us anything but bottom of the playoffs in the East IMO and I think this will make the rebuild slower and more painful in the long run. I'd rather be bottom of the barrel for a few years and then get back close to the top rather than be 7 - 9 in the East in perpetuity.

I'd be tempted to tank and get some high picks in the next couple of years and get a good young core going.

Regardless, the next few years will be rough.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

I think the idea that we're becoming a more run n gun style team was just to appeal to LeBron. I'm pretty sure we'll be playing whatever style we can pull off with whatever players we have left.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Landing Collison should be our top priority right now. The guy has already demonstrated he can put up huge numbers. Getting him to run an up-tempo system and to pair with Hickson sounds infinitely better than tanking for some mythical savior to land with the 5th pick. In fact, if he was available in this draft he would have gone top five after the rookie season he had.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Come on, people said the same thing when the Celtics gutted their team in 2007, it worked quite well. Sucky Heat teams that won 43 and 47 games last two years just added LeFraud, Bosh and Mike Miller...there will definitely be more than a few other players that will be willing to participate in this monstrous team for very little salary. I understand we are all hurt and we wish the Heat only the worst but let's be realistic, they won't have much competition in the East.

It worked because that particular Boston team still had a bench in tact. This Miami team is going to have 8 or 9 empty spots and no money to spend except the vet minimum.

Really, then why is Minnesota trading him.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

I'd rather just see what we have with JJ than trade for another PF (Jefferson isn't a C).

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

I'd take Jefferson. Only way I throw in picks is for Flynn though. The idea of acquiring Scola seems redundant since we have AV though.

Because Minnesota is rebuilding and they want to dump salary, if I were to guess. Maybe you should ask them. Why did Memphis trade Pau Gasol?

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Al Jefferson? Ugh: I actually though our pick and roll defense would impove with Shaq leaving :chuckles:

I'd only be interested if we pick up Rubio in all of this. We're just taking on a bloated contract for a guy who is a black hole on offense and terrible on defense. Need to get young assets and draft picks: our model has to be Portland which built thru acquiring draft picks, drafting smart, and picking up underpriced vets.
