Cavs close to multiple trades? (Hoopsworld Speculation)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

He was a 17/9 guy this past season after coming off the injury.

I know that - there were also coaching and personnel changes. I asked if he could get back to 23/11 in his second season after his injury. Sometimes it takes players 2 years go get back to their pre knee injury form, other times they never make it back.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Damn Al Jeff, sign me up. I know he's had some injuries but I don't know what you guys expect to get that's better than a young 20/10 big man with legit post moves. The ironic part of this whole thing would be that this is the EXACT guy we needed to get to be Lebron's Pippen and Lebron is gone. The more ironic thing is that we find our Pippen when Lebron becomes Wade's Pippen.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Do not want Jefferson =/

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

If we are really, truly going to be an up tempo offense, what is the point in getting Jefferson? He has great talent but I just don't see him making it in an offense predicated on getting up and down the court.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Some of you need to fucking grow up. Jeebus! You don't lose a guy like "that guy" and contend for the ring. If this team makes the playoffs, it would be a great thing.

There are 10 confused men currently on our roster, who were dissed by "that guy", a new set of coaches, limited cap room, and some older bodies. A new first time GM, and an angry owner.

You cannot be as jaded and self absorbed as #6. If 45 wins isn't good enough for you next year, get off the bus now and cheer for the Lakers, Celtics, Heat or Bulls. You are not Cavs fans. You are frontrunners.

Everybody else...let's help our team by being positive.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

I think if Delonte is traded and bought out, he will simply go to Miami with Lebron. I think one of the reasons why Lebron got pissy is because Mike Brown simply wouldn't play Delonte and Boobie more in the playoffs instead he wanted to trot Parker and Mo out there for 40 minutes.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

contend.. for playoffs. championship isnt gonna happen next year man. new coach. new system.

Heat wont make championship or even out of second round also.. they have a 2-3 year building process to sign players with the MLE in order to get stuff.

It's funny. They really expect vets are going to take millions and millions of less money to join them...

Vets on their last legs will but that is it my friend.

Come on, people said the same thing when the Celtics gutted their team in 2007, it worked quite well. Sucky Heat teams that won 43 and 47 games last two years just added LeFraud, Bosh and Mike Miller...there will definitely be more than a few other players that will be willing to participate in this monstrous team for very little salary. I understand we are all hurt and we wish the Heat only the worst but let's be realistic, they won't have much competition in the East.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Al Jeff is getting a bad rap here. The man is young and a machine when healthy. I'm all aboard with Al Jeff. He is a real center in a league that has very few. Other than Orlando, and maybe Boston when Perkins come back, not many teams would be able to stop him. Throw in Tawn in spread the floor and take away the double teams, you have a great fit for Al Jeff here. I'm all for it.

I'm pretty sure you are going on a tirade against nobody.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

No thank you. No way do I add picks to that. They can just trade Jefferson somewhere else.

So you wouldn't trade a second round pick that we are aquiring from Miami for a young big man like Al Jefferson? Odds are that second round pick will never be a starter for this team.

He is not a real center.

Do you think Minnesota would be getting rid of him if he was a real center?

He has an inch and ten lbs on Hickson.

He's a just-right rized power forward.

For Al Jefferon? No. Plus it didn't say 1 second round pick. It said....

"Minnesota would send him to Cleveland for the TPE and the right combination of picks."

Cavs Close To Multiple Trades?

The Cleveland Cavaliers have come to their senses a bit, following the news that their franchise's foundation was blowing town to try and ride Dwyane Wade's coattails to a championship in Miami. After initially saying they would not be willing to work a sign-and-trade, the word is the Cavaliers will, indeed, work such a deal with the HEAT. A source close to the situation tells HOOPSWORLD that Cleveland will obtain two future first round picks and two future second rounds picks as well as a $16 million traded player exception (TPE) from Miami.

Initially it seemed the Cavaliers would be rebuilding this summer, likely trading away veterans Antawn Jamison and Mo Williams in an effort to get younger and look more towards the future. Tonight we're being told that's not true at all. In fact, the Cavaliers would like to use the $16 million TPE to acquire a veteran player who can help them win immediately.

UPDATE: Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer has some additional details about this possible trade . . .check it out here!

As it happens, the Minnesota Timberwolves have a player who fits that description to a tee, and they would love to get their hands on the TPE in exchange for Al Jefferson. Jefferson has been on the block for some time, as unlike the Cavaliers the Timberwolves are very much in the rebuilding mode. The arrival of Nikola Pekovic and the re-signing of Darko Milicic have long since spelled the end for Jefferson in Minnesota, and the belief is that Minnesota would send him to Cleveland for the TPE and the right combination of picks.

Jefferson fills a real need for the Cavaliers, who could simply move Antawn Jamison over to the small forward position and start Jefferson next to JJ Hickson, Shaquille O'Neal, or Zydrunas Ilguaskas, depending on which way they decide to go at center and who's available. Ilguaskas is rumored to be following LeBron to Miami, while Shaq is supposedly in talks with the Atlanta Hawks and possibly the Chicago Bulls about signing on for two seasons.

Another front court player who is drawing a lot of interest is Houston Rockets forward Luis Scola, who is a restricted free agent. The Cavaliers have not reached out to Scola, though sources close to the situation tell HOOPSWORLD the New Jersey Nets are preparing a "big money" offer sheet for Scola. That doesn't mean the Rockets will let him walk . . .GM Daryl Morey has been very clear in saying they will match any offer for Scola. They're likely waiting for a team to set his value so they can match it and move on, just as they did with Carl Landry two summers ago

That leaves Jefferson as the most likely candidate for Cleveland, and he might just keep them in the playoff picture. He's not exactly a championship piece, but the Cavaliers would certainly be one of the top five or six teams in the East with Jefferson and Jamison together at the forward spots.

The trade between the HEAT and Cavaliers is not a done deal, but sources on both sides are reporting it close to being complete. We'll have more on this story as it develops.

This shit is garbage, Windhorst would be reporting this if it were close.

Re: Cavs close to mutiple trades?

Jefferson followed (actually was traded for) a star joining a "Big 3" when he went to T'Wolves now he'd be doing the same in Cleveland. Kind of ironic.
