I was watching an episode of "30 for 30" - the one titled "June 17, 1994". This was the one that chronicled OJ Simpson's highway chase and arrest, Arnold Palmer's final US Open round, the World Cup, the NY Rangers Stanley Cup win, etc., and also the NY Knicks in the NBA finals vs Hakeem the Dream (my favorite player back in the day!) and the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets won in 7, but I was just struck by the roster of the Knicks... what a tough line-up. I'd forgotten how hard nosed they were.

Of course the main man was Patrick Ewing, with Charles Oakley, Anthony Mason, John Starks, and Derek Harper (and others).... how good would that line-up be today? They might be a bit ham-strung with todays flagrant foul restrictions... but man, I would love to see that team match up vs Miami or Oklahoma or SA. All of those guys were tough defenders... maybe a little lite on the outside shooting, but what an odd match-up if they played the Heat... odd match-up for both sides. Would be fun to watch!

That was closer to a defensive line than it was a frontcourt. That Knicks team would really bring the hammer.

Still cant believe Charles Smith missed all those putbacks. Got off the hook once Starks had such a horrible Game 7.

LOVE the 1 1/2 seasons MJ was out.. Those Knicks, Rockets, Suns, Spurs, Pacers teams were loaded...

Anthony Mason was such a mismatch off the bench...

Wish there was a team today like those Knicks...

That's exactly what I was referring to. Miami has never faced a defensive line-up like that... nor has anyone else in the last 10 years.

Yeah, I think having a team like those Knicks today would be a fun change... if they were allowed to play their style, which they wouldn't be able to.

And Mason was unique... but in the days of Rodman and Sprewell, he was considered normal!

By the way, check out the rookie 1st and 2nd teams of 93-94

1st Team
Vin Baker
Anfernee Hardaway
Jamal Mashburn
Isaiah Rider
Chris Webber

2nd Team
Shawn Bradley
Lindsey Hunter
Toni Kukoc
Dino Radja
Nick Van Exel

Memphis is the closest thing we've seen to that, and we can see how Memphis gives teams fits with their size/strength inside.
