2011 NBA Playoffs Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Seems like Tyson Chandler could really tip the series in the Mavs favor, but maybe I'm just overrating him. He should be able to control the glass, no?

Haywood is a good rebounder and defender as well.

shout out to savannah brinson, delonte took care of his mother, I'll take care of his baby mother.

I would post in the Heat thread, but basically I refuse to. I hate that it is the longest thread this year. Here is the problem I have with the Heat. It really isn't just because Lebron left, and it is not just that he made the decision.

If they win this year, there is no context. Miami didn't do anything except clear cap to get that team. No hard work, no suffering. They didn't work their way up from the bottom like the Cavs did. I felt exactly the same way when the Celtics put together a team, right when our team was becoming a contender. They used all the work other teams put into their players, and got a great result first time out. I just don't understand how that is a good story or even something to be proud of. What sort of lesson is that? Is there anything inspirational about it? It is a front runner's story plain and simple.

Celtics traded their assets for better assets.

Kevin Garnett. Celtics traded 2 first round draft picks.
Traded Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 1st round draft pick (Wayne Ellington) and a 2009 1st round draft pick (Jonny Flynn) to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Garnett.
Traded Jeff Green, Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West and a 2008 2nd round draft pick (Trent Plaisted) to the Seattle SuperSonics for Ray Allen and Glen Davis.

Tony Allen (1st round boston draft pick) ,
Rajon rondo (1st round boston draft pick).

Kendrick perkins June 26, 2003: Traded by the Memphis Grizzlies with Marcus Banks to the Boston Celtics for Troy Bell and Dahntay Jones.

The Boston team wasnt built by clearing cap space and hiring the top free agents. How you can compare them to the current Miami team I dont know.

I tihnk for the mavs to win the series they just have to keep doing what they have been so successfull at this playoff run:
They need to look after the ball and backboard whilst continuing to hit from downtown. In game one i expect miami to see if bosh can handle dirk one on one, if he can then the series tilts in miamis favour significantly.
I personally am off the opinion that you dont hedge hard towards lebron in triple threat situations as he tend to shoot step backs, you must make sure if you are goign to foul wade he feels it.
I dont think miami are as dangerous if wade and lebron are looking to shoot and not find the open team mates

Not sure where to post this, but Mo broke his silence today. I would post it as he did, but it's just obnoxious to read in 140 character increments:

Well since yall twist my arm I guess I will give my opinion........if u go roster to roster, yes Mia is better. More talented and better overall players. We were a really good TEAM. Sort of like the bulls, actually we were the bulls. Switch #1 to #23 and then there was us the Cavs. He was asked to do the same things that d rose was asked and everyone else played there role. We weren't the fav to ever win it, but we knew we had a really good chance if everything fall in place and unfortunately it didn't. But to not appreciate what my teammates, Ben Wallace, Big Z, Andy, AP, Bobbie, JJ, shaq, and the rest of the squad those 2yrs that's something I never will do no matter what team I'm on.

Pretty big name that's not mentioned by name and only by former number... I think Mo might have some hard feelings.

I will always appreciate what Mo brought to the table. I have never talked down on him on this board and this is exactly why.

In retrospect, we were the good guys of the NBA those years. I really enjoyed every single player we had on our roster. Most of them really were humble and down to earth guys and it would have been great to give these hard working individuals a ring along with the city of Cleveland.

It's probably the main reason I despise and will continue to despise LeBron James.

A lot of people hated us because of LeBron. We were only the "good guys" in our eyes. If you talk to pretty much any other fan they hated the Cavs when LeBron was here and they thought our fanbase were idiots. We actually were pretty delusional towards LeBron, we basically gave him a pass on just about every thing.

Yea, but as you say, it was only because of HIM that they hated us. And his betrayal to the fans and even more importantly he teammates, is what really puts it over the edge for me...

Dallas is an interesting team. I think they're the best offensive team the Heat has played. I'd go as far to say that Dallas is the first team they've faced that can shoot them out of a game if they really need to. I also think Dallas will control the glass because they have great size. They're also a great three point shooting team and I personally think they have the best bench in the NBA. So they come at you in waves. They have very shaky perimeter defense, but to be fair, I'm not sure Chalmers and Bibby can stay in front of Barrea or Jet so maybe it evens out.

Yes If you shut down the inside against the mavs your risking leaving shooters like terry and kid open on the perimeter.
if you focus on dirk you give openings to Marion who can still score when called upon.

then you have Chandler who is an ideal center for a free flow offense and can set a mean screen.

Miami will face pressure on both sides of the court.

DeShawn Stevenson is gonna give the Heat issues. Mainly off-court issues, but still.

this is definitely in my top ten tweets of the year

One player said Chauncey Billups, especially after he got injured, did far more coaching on the bench and in the huddle during the playoffs than D'Antoni, and "made a helluva lot more sense." In private, the Suns veterans -- excluding Steve Nash, perhaps -- similarly degrade D'Antoni. New York Post
