2011 NBA Playoffs Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
C'mon man, you're better than that. Miami's D was structured and instructed to stop Rose and nobody else. If anybody else could create their own shot (besided Ronnie fuckin Brewer ????) they would have had ample opportunity to do so. Again, not excusing Rose, he came up short. But at least acknowledge that he was the only offensive player on that team that could create his own shot.

He's the only guy who's ever allowed the opportunity. If I'm the PG and I bring the ball up the court and hold it for 15 seconds and then take wild shots, who the hell am I to say I'm getting no help? He has to actually let someone else try before we can claim no one else can.

And heres the other thing about Rose, he doesn't create shots for anyone else. That's his real, glaring weakness. LBJ had to deal with this same stuff, but he would at least create for others.

And I really am tired of tthe line about Rose having to face this many guys and this type of D. Every great player since the start of the NBA has had to face defenses structured to stop them. It simply isn't a worthy excuse.

Luol Deng, for like the 3rd damn game in a row, was that team's best all-around player.

Chicago learned alot about themselves this playoffs and Im pretty sure the front office will see about making a move or two.

What Chicago did see was that aren't too far away from super friends

Shooting guard will be on their shopping list this offseason.

The one thing they needed was one more really good 3-point shooter. You need two in case one goes cold.

But other than that, they just need to hope Rose improves, especially in the court vision department.

Rose is simply overrated. Rose shot 37% against mediocre Indy in the entire series.

It is not as if Miami was the only one who shut him down. He is not even close to a superstar.

You're right, he is. However, he does not possess the jumper that those guys have and therefore Kidd can sag off him a tad. This is all speculation, but I'm predicting that Kidd, using his knowlege, craftiness and freakish hand eye coordination will be able to bother (not shut down) Wade.

Yeah, I would think that Dallas would try sagging often, and sometime show zone, to encourage some of the Heat to prove it from the outside, and to see whether James Jones, Bibby, or Miller can force them out of it. It will be interesting to see if Wade has a better offensive series with fewer defensive responsibilities. He looked exhausted at times vs. Chicago, although obviously hit some big shots in the end.

Agreed for the most part however, objectively, you watch the games, I watch the games, they cannot create their own shots. Deng has a great midrange game but little ball handling skills, and also little penetration skills. Noah? C'mon. Korver? Nope. Bogans? Ha. Boozer? Good shooter, and can flourish in the pick and pop but cannot create own shot. So I ask you again, which one of them can create their own shots?

With that said, you are absolutely right about Rose needing to upgrade his ability to create for others.

Overrated in what sense? He deserved the MVP, however we all know the MVP is a regular season award (ask Dirk about that). He isn't a top 3 player, but I mean c'mon the dude is a baller. Do you think Durant is overrated too?

Absolutely. Dallas has already shown that they have no hesitation to go into the zone this post season. It does concern me that Miller seems to be finding his groove as of late. I am worried about your point that Wade might have more energy and thus better offensive production due to less defensive responsibilities. Who knows. All I know is if I have to bet money on one guy to make a big shot in this series, my money is on Dirk. Furthermore, the Kidd/Dirk high screen and roll is so deadly, especially at the end of games. It will be interesting indeed.

I just wish the Mavs had won a few more regular-season games. Not because they can't win on the road, but the Heat role players have not had many serious breakout games on the road and their home-court advantage creates more opportunities for them (like Jones had in G1 vs. the Celtics)...

I don't think there is any question that the Mavs would have a better chance in this series with HCA. I'm not sure I'd pick them to win anyway, but I sure would feel better about their chances.

Marshon Brooks would be phenomenal for that Bulls team. I hope he falls to them. Further, they must absolutely trade Boozer. Taj needs all the playing time to develop, and then draft someone like Jajuan Johnson or HArper to back Taj up.

I hope we get Marshon Brooks and let the Bulls find their SG somewhere else. :chuckles: Brooks has been pretty solid in the draft workouts. I just like the guy.

With that said, I don't envy the Bulls right now. Its perhaps a given that Rose will improve, but they needed a more powerful presence (scoring-wise) inside instead of just Boozer, who by the way is also suffering from a turf-toe. They best hope that Noah develops a little more scoring but I doubt that'd happen.

They don't have a lot of trade assets right now. I can't even think of a scenario where they could get that proven 1st scoring option (I believe Rose should be more of a facilitator/2nd option).
- Capt. Jack?
- OJ Mayo?
- ???

HCA is critical no doubt especially for the Mavs, they have to take one of the first two because if not, then Miami will have all the confidence going back to Dallas and they'll make the most of it. So Dallas better come out with a bang and shell shock the Heat, and get their shooters in the groove early in the series.

Seems like Tyson Chandler could really tip the series in the Mavs favor, but maybe I'm just overrating him. He should be able to control the glass, no?
