2013 NBA Free Agents

I know it's a ways off but just keep your eye on the prize and know we don't wanna get to good too quick and that's why I feel we will be bigger players in next years free agency than this year. The cavs are going to have a ton of cap space and we just need to realize batum isnt going to be that final piece to a ship were to far away!

We could be players for Daequan Cook,Kyle korver,Josh Smith, Dorrell Wright, DeJuan Blair, Paul Millsap,Brandan Wright and like 0.5% Dwight Howard...And maybe get a guy like monta ellis if he uses the early termination card.

Hopefully Grant doesn't let our free agent hopes get held hostage by the Luke Walton 2013 free agent tour. If he doesn't commit to us we just have to move on before other players start signing elsewhere.

You should at least give credit to Hoopsworld.com as that is their entire article and list copied and pasted.

the list is also artificially inflated due to the number of 2010 draftees(Wall, Crawford, Turner, Favors, W Johnson, Cousins, Hayward, Paul George, Bledsoe) and 2011 draftees(Kyrie, Williams, Tristan, Jonas, etc.)

If you could go through the list and delete out all the 2010 and 2011 guys, the list would be much easier to analyze and this thread would probably get way more attention/discussion.

Here is the list minus the 2010 and 2011 draftees. The strength of the FA class is at PG and SG. Doubtful the Cavs would spend big money at either of those positions. At center you have Bynum and Dwight, but I think its safe to rate them as 0% chance for the Cavs. Pekovic is intriguing as he took a big step up this year in Minnesota and would represent an interior enforcer. Tristan is athleitc and can alter shots but he's not the type to "hurt" you inside. Really not much appealing in the 2013 class.

2014 is where it gets interesting. There will be so many potential superstar UFA's(Dirk, Pau, Deng, Granger, Bogut, Ellis, Iguadola) + all the possible ETO guys(LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Melo, Amare, Barganani, Randolph) + and of the 2013 RFA's who played out their deals without signing an extension + the 2014 RFA's(Wall, Favors, Cousins, Monroe, Paul George). Now, some of these guys will sign extensions, but the point is 2014 is going to be overloaded with guys who are used to making a ton of money or who are expecting to make a ton of money. Their simply won't be enough spots with the glamour cities(NY, BKLYN, MIAMI, LAL, LAC, BOS) for all of these guys.

So 2014 has the potential to benefit the Cavs in a multitude of ways:

1: By using our cap space and up and coming squad(which post 2014 draft will have 8 first round picks on it), to just outright sign a stud FA or RFA
2: From next years trading deadline all the way up to the 2014 draft, you will see a number of teams begin to look to position themselves for FA 2014 by getting rid of the contractual mistakes of 2010-2013 off which there has been many. As Max has alluded to, the Cavs will be in perfect position cap wise to take on one of these contracts if their is a significant future draft pick attached to it

Thanks man Must not of paid attention to it enough

Was just trying to get the info on here for everyone to analyze
Here is the list minus the 2010 and 2011 draftees. The strength of the FA class is at PG and SG. Doubtful the Cavs would spend big money at either of those positions. At center you have Bynum and Dwight, but I think its safe to rate them as 0% chance for the Cavs. Pekovic is intriguing as he took a big step up this year in Minnesota and would represent an interior enforcer. Tristan is athleitc and can alter shots but he's not the type to "hurt" you inside. Really not much appealing in the 2013 class.

If we traded Varejao by next summer if we could bring in Pekovic. It would be a great offseason with just that

Am I the only one who thinks that Bynum might not be a massive reach? Depending on how things play out with the Howard situation, Bynum very well could be an unrestricted free agent. If he can stay remotely healthy this season, I wouldn't hesitate to throw the max at him. Bynum just doesn't strike me as an L.A. type of guy. Part of me thinks that he'd prefer to be a little out of the spotlight and not under the massive pressure and scrutiny of LA.

I'm not naive enough to believe that big-time free agents are going to suddenly want to come to Cleveland, but Bynum could be an interesting situation. His offensive skills compliment TT perfectly and could give us the best defensive front court in the league. Perfect fit in the Princeton offense. Still only 24, he's played on a veteran laden team his entire career. I could see him being very interested in coming to a young, up-and-coming team that can be extremely good for a long time.

Unless some big move is made, we'll most likely find ourselves in the top 8 again next year. That gives us the potential to add an SF like Adonis Thomas, who can become an elite defender at the next level with his length and athleticism, or possibly even Mohammed. That would mean that with the draft next year and signing Bynum, the team could potentially look like this:

PG: Irving
SG: Waiters / Gee
SF: (Thomas/Mohammed) / Gee
PF: Thompson / AV
C: Bynum / Zeller

Sweet baby jesus. That team could make some serious noise in 2013 with a ton of room to grow. That's not including the Miami pick and whatever we may do with the contracts of Boobie, Casspi, and Walton.

Again, by no means do I expect us to sign Bynum, but if he's healthy this year I can definitely see us going hard after him and throwing him a max offer. Wishful thinking I know, but one can dream right?

I said this in another thread but Pekovic would be a great replacement for Andy.

However I do believe he can be extended a QO and become a restricted free agent (similar to Gee). How high Minnesota would go to keep Pekovic... who knows. Kahn is nucking cuts.

I would only sign bynum if stem cell therapy became possible or bionic knees, i'm not fussy

Dallas and Cleveland are among teams with cap space that would interest Bynum in 2013 as a free agent, sources tell Y!

Ill make a proper chart
