2014 Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only ones I feel for are the TD maker himself and Anthony Armstrong. While I just liked Edwin Baker, Armstrong was one of those guys who looked like he was trying out there.

So long, Edwin Baker the Touchdown Maker. Wasn't Adams the CB who kept getting picked on the last two games? Little surprised about Armstrong, wasn't he in the mix as a return guy? Other than that, I got no clue.

I'm betting the cut to 76 instead of 75 is foreshadowing of an imminent suspension for Gordon..

Wouldn't mind taking a shot at Streeter if we need another wideout for a little. 6'5, 4.4 40, had a good training camp/preseason.

Why the fuck not?

Or Eric Page just b/c I went to UT.

Most of those guys are scrap heap. Not surviving the cut to 75 is far different than not making the cut to 53. Still, there's some guys I'd like to bring in for tryouts. I'm sure linemen with zone blocking experience, or receivers with WCO knowledge would be favored.

Both UDFA Guards that spent camp with the Eagles.

Donald Hawkins
Height: 6-4 Weight: 301 Age: 22
College: Texas
Experience: Rookie

STRENGTHS
Can wall off, shuffle and sustain. Works angles in the run game and can gain positioning and lock out. Blue-collar worker with a serious, business-like approach. The game is important to him.
WEAKNESSES
Average size, arm length and body control for the edges. Struggles initiating contact on the move and connecting with linebackers. Limited base and finishing strength. Only bench-pressed 225 pounds 20 times at his pro day and needs to get stronger and learn to play with more shock in his hands. Tends to grab more than punch and can be exposed by edge speed.
DRAFT PROJECTION
Free agent
BOTTOM LINE
A finesse, college left tackle lacking ideal agility, bend and balance to handle NFL speed rushers and the girth, strength and power desired on the right side. Will have a long battle to earn a role and needs to get stronger. Best chance could come at right guard.
-NFLN

STRENGTHS: Hawkins stays light on his feet with good lateral quickness and shuffle to protect the edge, doing a nice job squaring up defenders with natural body control and coordination. Hawkins looks comfortable pulling and blocking on the move with the athleticism to get to the second level and clear the road down the field. WEAKNESSES: He has a narrow base and too often gets caught lunging and whiffing at his targets, falling off balance and struggling to recover. Hawkins utilizes angles and flashes an aggressive demeanor at the point of attack, but has room to improve his timing off the snap and his overall discipline. --Dane Brugler
PLAYER OVERVIEW
Hawkins arrived in Austin in the spring of 2012 and quickly earned the starting LT job, starting 11 games protecting the quarterback?s blind side last season. He played two seasons at Northwest Community College where he didn?t allow a sack in his 19 starts at the JUCO level. While he doesn?t have elite height and length for the tackle position, Hawkins showed enough in his first season at the FBS level to catch the eyes of scouts around the NFL. (9/6/13) -CBS

Nobody bothered with a write-up. FCS standout

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>News: Browns place OL Michael Bowie and LB Darius Eubanks on injured reserve.</p>&mdash; Cleveland Browns (@Browns) <a href="">August 26, 2014</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Wouldn't this put the Browns at 74?

If Michael Sam gets cut, what are the odds the Browns are the team that picks him up?

Not sure there's a spot for Sam, except the practice squad. He might be a decent situational pass rusher, but he can't really play OLB and he's too small/bad fit to play in our base D. Trouble is that Armonty Bryant is already playing well in that role.

If we trade one of these defensive lineman for a wide reciever, i'd take Sam in a heartbeat

I think OL depth is much bigger issue than WR's at this point.

We literally only have FOUR offensive linemen that can play and nothing else.

Moved.
