2016-2017 Around The NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I can see it now Spurs going to have to play 2 of the Clippers(7)/Memphis(6)/Rockets(3) just to get to the WCF while Warriors waltz right into the WCF.

Hell Thunder will probably make it more easier for them and knock the Jazz out in the 1st round.

I never understand this complaint. That's the award for getting the 1 seed. The easier path. If San Antonio would like that path, then I suggest they get the 1 seed.

The award is HCA. Having the higher seed doesn't exactly mean you get the easier path. Luck of the draw. I'm not complaining just pointing out the Warriors have a horseshoe stuck up their ass.

Damn spurs

Such a model franchise

Hopefully the king didn't watch this game
Must piss him off even more

Come on now. A higher seed means you generally get to play lower seeds, who are lower seeds because of their record. Sure, it doesn't necessarily mean you get to play worse teams, but that's the idea.

The Spurs have such a miniscule shot at getting past the Warriors.

They would've had a good shot last year IMO, but I think they showed last year against a team with two elite scorers and only one Kawhi they get torched.

We would torch the Spurs. The Warriors would torch the Spurs. If they had another Kawhi it'd be different.

Who guards Kyrie? Who guards Steph? If you say Kawhi then who guards LeBron? Who guards Durant?

Same problem they had last year with Russ and Durant. You have one elite defender and good team defense. You sticking Parker/Mills on Kyrie/Curry? Watch them drop 40

Somehow, someway... They will prevail.

2017 NBA Finals

Cavs - Spurs

I'd for one, actually like to see the Spurs play the Warriors in a series. Hasn't happened.

Weird shit keeps happening to prevent it. Like the Clippers playing out of their minds to beat the Spurs in 7 in 2015.

Well, technically they did play in 2013, with the Spurs winning 4-2.

It is amazing they haven't had a series the last 2 years. I'd love to see it.

Agreed with this. The one caveat is Danny Green - who's a JR Smith level defender, perhaps a bit better, but not significantly so - is the one guarding Kyrie Irving or Steph Curry.

The dilemma with this against the Cavs or Warriors is they have players to make Parker/Mills get torched. Klay Thompson would abuse that matchup, and we saw how good JR can be at setting screens last year vs. Steph. It's a fundamental matchup problem facing the Spurs.

Pop's system is going to guarantee the Spurs get to the playoffs every year. Having a few all-star level players - like Kawhi and LMA - is going to guarantee they make at least some noise in the playoffs. But this current Spurs team, while very athletic, probably doesn't have what it takes to win against GSW or CLE in the postseason.
