2016-2017 Around The NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Faried....who is healthy....didn't play a single minute in the first half.

Salary for Faried is at $12.3M around so not enough for the trade exception.

God, I hate Alvin Gentry, he is so dumb....

So sad to see AD waste his good years because he doesn't have any players to play with
They blew their load on injury prone players and it is biting them in the ass (Gordon, Holiday, & Evans). Not to mention drafted terribly since hes been on board. AD should be at a point where he is a MVP candidate at this point.

When LaMarcus Aldridge isn't scoring, he's useless. Making Robin Lopez look like Wilt Chamberlain.

Not that I would trade for him, but his salary is $12.07 M and our exception (x125% +$100k) totals out to $12,148 M. It would be legal.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

To see who we could acquire with the TPE, use the list at the link below, and look at #83...and anyone below that is fair game. Unless I am wrong about the kickers application to a TPE.

(Maybe we should take a flier on the player that is ranked #83 :chuckle:)

I don't believe the 125% rule applies to trade exceptions, just the +100k for salaries that are "close enough"

You are correct sir. Had to dig deeper into the Larry Coon CBA.
A rule of thumb is that a trade exception can only be used to acquire a player making up to the amount of the exception plus $100,000.

Well, he's still only 23 - not even in his prime (even though it's hard to believe knowing how good AD is already). They can turn it around.

OKC not figuring out a way to keep Russ, Harden, and KD together for a few years was a huge travesty. Frankly, I think Russ and Harden or Harden and KD would be a better combo than Russ and KD. Just three amazing talents all around.

P.S., this OKC-HOU game is sloppy, but very entertaining.

Just think about it... when all is said and done, they could have very likely had three MVPs on their team all at once. (Given the way they both put up numbers, I think it's very likely, if not guaranteed, that Westbrook and Harden will both win an MVP at some point in their careers.)

Just boggles my mind. I don't claim to remember the exact details on Harden being moved, but didn't it only come down to a few million extra in his contract? They got absolute shit in return for him.

Yeah, pretty much. OKC had just signed Westbrook to a max contract, and that summer, signed Ibaka to a four year deal. Thus, for Harden, they were only willing to pay $52-$54 million over four years. Harden wanted $60 million over four years. Clay Bennett was unwilling to pay that extra $6-$8 million. Consequently, knowing that Harden would demand an even bigger contract the following free agency, Presti decided to trade him.

Thunder received Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, two first round picks - which became Steven Adams and Andre Roberson - and one second round pick (Alex Abrines). At the time, many on this board and in general thought the trade was a steal for OKC. Harden was sixth man of the year, but nobody knew what he would become. On the other hand, Kmart and Lamb were very good three-point shooters, and the picks did indeed turn out to be good players.

The dilemma is the sum of what OKC got is still not as good as Harden became. It was tough to see it at the time, but Houston really did make out like bandits, even if many thought they lost.
