2016-2017 Around The NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Boston will struggle in a playoff series because their best big is a poor rebounder and their best layer is incredibly easy to exploit defensively. So as the game slows the whistles dry-up and shots get harder, the opposing team can game plan to create an easier look and have a grater chance of rebounding the miss

The Celtics might be the 29th ranked team in defensive rebounding, but don't forget that Toronto is 30th. The Raptors have also been regressing defensively. They look putrid on that end while their offense has come back down to Earth.

Don't forget their best player has yet to play even average in the playoffs.

If this Boston doesn't add another piece of significance there is no way they beat the Raptors if both are healthy. Willing to bet on it, too. If the playoffs started today they'd play Charlotte and I'm really not even sure Boston could beat them.

They are simply overachieving in the regular season. Again. Nothing new here they are a pretender, Al Horford doesn't really change anything beyond maybe getting past the 1st round.

Rockets 19-2 since the start of December

A-are the rockets actually contenders?!
D'Antoni's system - given the right players - is the best regular season offense in the NBA. It is simple enough that you can run it well when tired, but complex and fast enough that teams need to spend time they do no have preparing for it.

I do think it could be successful in the playoffs, but frankly, I don't know if Houston has the talent to beat the Warriors in a seven game series. Nonetheless, the Rockets are a really good, fun team right now, and they deserve the praise they are receiving.

I'll have to check them out some more. They made me so mad with their horrendous effort in the playoffs last season that I just have been completely ignoring them.

I find them very different than the past two years. A lot of the team is similar, but, they play with a significantly higher degree of effort, even on defense. Eric Gordon and Pat Beverly are really fun to watch, and furthermore, D'Antoni is the perfect coach for Harden. I highly recommend watching them.

C.J. McCollum took 28 shots and made 16 while having zero ft attempts.

It's gotta be hard to take 28 shots and not get fouled once right?

I'm lowkey loving Toronto starting to fall. We need to make sure our roadtrip ends with a net positive. Need to win 3 or 4/5 games to completely separate ourselves from the rest of the conference.

Boston just has more balance than Toronto. If Lowry and DeRozan don't have great games, they've got no one else to score the ball. Boston, while relying heavily on Thomas, still has Bradley, Horford, and Crowder, who can all get you 20-25 in a given night.

I trust Boston's offense far more in the playoffs than I do Toronto's offense, centered around Lowry and DeRozan playing 1on1 basketball when the game slows down.

I also think Thomas is just the best player in a potential series.

I don't agree with...well, pretty much any of that.

Guess we'll have to just wait and see.

But I'm much more comfortable putting stock into a team that has actually done something in the playoffs.

It would be a very interesting 2nd round series, if the Celtics can manage to get there.

The Nets are a full 3 games back in the win column of the next worst team

There has never been a more obvious trade to block from a commissioner's standpoint since I've been following the NBA

Seriously getting sick and tired of this nonsense

Hindsight is 20/20
The youngest player in the deal was 36 years old.

It's almost the equivalent of right now going out and trading unprotected 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022 first round picks for Dwayne Wade and Pau Gasol, but both Wade and Gasol are younger than KG and Pierce were.

It was an insane trade then and it's even worse now. Brooklyn for the next 4 years has next to 0 chance of improving.

Seriously you don't need hindsight to see that trading all of that for a 36 year old and 37 year old well past their prime was moronic.

Nah, that trade was horrible from the jump and most people knew it. Pierce & Terry were on their last legs and KG was already done.

The amount of picks, UNPROTECTED picks they got in that trade was and is asinine. Thank god Boston hasn't really done shit with any of them yet.
