2016 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So someone talk to me about Ryan Merritt and Jesus Aguilar.

They have been called up, Yandy was not. Who are they, future prospects, age, what is the reasoning?

Thanks, excited for the post season, just trying to know as much as possible.

Jesus Aguilar is a AAAA player. Just not good enough at anything...think this is potentially his last year in the system. Not a prospect anymore. Big power though. 1B/DH only.

Ryan Merritt is like a LH version of Tomlin. Below average stuff, good command and control, gives up a ton of contact, gives up HRs. Still a prospect, but low ceiling with the lack of stuff....he's up in order to eat innings if Tomlin gets shelled again, which is highly likely.

Neither of them will make the postseason roster.

And the big reason Yandy Diaz wasn't called up is because he isn't on the 40 man. Sounds like they didn't want to make a 40 man move. I'd expect him to be on it come the winter though...

What were Papi's stats for that series?
Was that a poor pitching AA staff deprived by call ups or did Papi turn some kind of corner near the end of the year?

Not really seeing him here long term but if he could rise up enough to have true meaningful trade value this winter or next season, that'd be a huge gain.

Papi is notoriously streaky and the most maddeningly patient hitter you'll ever find.

He'll bat .800 for a month and not get a hit the next month.

I'm not sure why we're talking about whether he's here long term or not.... he's a 23 year old prospect in AA and having a decent season.

I guess what I'm trying to say is Papi is a prospect, not some fringy chump. He has some MLB caliber tools so let's just sit back and see how he develops.

AZL Fall League to this point:

Greg Allen: .389/.450/.444...1 2B, 1 RBI, 3 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 3 SB, 1 CS

Bradley Zimmer: .286/.545/.429...2 2B, 2 RBI, 6 R, 7 BB, 6 K, 5 SB

Yu-Cheng Chang: .313/.353/.375...1 2B, 2 RBI, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 0 SB

Merritt just started the closeout game in the ALCS. Where does he slot into the Columbus rotation next year?

Greg Allen with a two HR game today.

.361/.439/.639 slash so far in 10 games, with 2 HR, 2 2B, 1 3B, and 5 SB.

He's going to be flying up prospect rankings this winter...
