Despite Greinke being really good this year, of those 3 teams, I imagine the Nats are the only ones that would offer that contract again.

Even then, Scherzer's contract is about to enter a new level after 2018. Over his first 3 years he's made $62m. In 2018 he makes $22m. But in the remaining 3 years of his contract, he makes $126m. He's obviously been incredible but he turns 35 summer of 2019.

I think we were set to sign him to a 7 year deal but with Bauer’s arbitration number coming in a little higher than expected, JD’s deal is off the table now.
