2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Eye-popping assist/rebound numbers from Simmons, but the 76ers still got crushed by a Grizzlies team playing without Gasol and Conley...as with Embiid, I'm staying off his bandwagon until he starts turning stats into wins.

Come on.. his impact his huge. The only thing that might put you off the bandwagon is his injury history and he will get injured again.

76ers were +3.3 with him on the floor, -9 without. Thats in his first year when he was still in sub optimal shape. His imact can not be denied, his health is the problem here.

I'll grant that his defensive impact was very impressive for a rookie (though part that was contrast with Okafor's brutally bad defense, imo).

On offense I'm less sure about him. He scored a ton of points, but he was also pretty inefficient inside the arc, and averaged 5.4 turnovers per 36 minutes, completely unprecedented for a big man. I'm not sure that adds up to winning basketball.

As we all know, the best time to make sweeping predictions is after a rookie's first preseason game.

(Just as a reference, LeBron was 4-12 for 8 pts, 3 boards and 7 assists in his first preseason game. Obviously, fultz won't be Bron.)

He just took a lot of face up pull up jumpers, but when he did decide to attack aggresively he was only stopped by a hard foul.

He was prone to TO's because he was double teamed often down low and his team's spacing didn't allow him to have clear passing angles.

He was still fairly efficient with .510 eFG% and his FTr% was absurdly high and FTr% is usually consistent with players throughout the years and projects success.

As for his defense, if you don't think this is elite for any player, and especially a rookie then I don't know what to say :( http://stats.nba.com/player/203954/defense-dash/

But again, I have zero faith in him staying healthy, his knees are not aligned, he has valgus knees and that puts tremendous stress on the feet ( according to literature) and that's the reason I believe he has strss fractures in his feet.

I'm just talking about the on-off stats in particular. It helps when the guy you're switching off with is one of the worst players in the NBA. He's good, but the +14 on/off split overstates his case a little, is all I'm saying.

I really wanna know who Damien Wilkins is fucking to still get into nba preseason games ??

Wow. Batum is a very good player but doesn't get much recognition being in Charlotte.

I hate preseason injuries.

I’m watching the Nets Heat pre-season game. I’ve never seen so many travels and moving screens called and it’s only the 2nd quarter!

Hopefully this helps us because we all know GS love their moving screens :chuckle:

On another note, I know it’s only pre-season, but the Nets don’t look like a complete dumpster fire as of yet...to me anyways.

The Cavs started 5-5 after a strong preseason immediately following LeBron's departure.

Bad teams will be bad; don't worry.

I'm still on the Jordan Bell bandwagon like I was predraft. Guy is going to be a beast.

I don't understand how GSW were able to buy a 2nd round pick and we didn't.

You only get a few million in cash to use every year for buying draft picks, including in trades, etc. I forget the exact rule, but either we already used all of our cash for the year (if using $ in the draft counts towards the previous season), or this year we decided not to use all our cash at the draft and instead wanted to save it for possible trades this year.
