2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If clippers blow it up via Blake leaving for Miami and Chris Paul going to Spurs. Then i'm looking to see if possibly we can swing a Tristan for Deandre deal.

Yes it does. His production is much better playing at the 2 and the statistics back it up. Since his rookie season he has been out out of position at the 3 because he gives up 30-40 pounds against the average SF in the league. He can only beat 3s with quickness, not strength or height advantage. When he sparingly played the 2, he would dominate other SG's in the league because the average SG is around 6'4" and he is 6'8". He can shoot over them with ease and match them in athleticism and speed offensively and defensively. He is not physically weaker then the average SG like he is against the average SF and will absolutely feast playing the 2 this season.

The reason that Thibs made this move, IMO, was to increase Wiggins production by putting him at the 2 full time where he is a completely different player while filling the SF spot with an All Star. This is honestly a great move for Minny and a huge upgrade for them in 2 positions, SF and SG.
Can you provide the statistics that, as you said, "back it up"? I've never seen anything like that and am honestly curious.

I buy that he could be better while defending other guards; however, he is ball dominant and useless off-ball. So I can't see why he would be better offensively, hence, my interest in the stats.

I think we'd probably have to throw in Cedi... But, I would love DeAndre on this team. He is low-key one of the best rim protectors in the game, just as good - if not better - of a rebounder as TT, is one of the best switch defenders in the NBA, and knows his role on offense.

There's nothing low-key about DAJ. His rim protection is elite. His rebounding is elite. His defense is elite. With him and Love we would have the two best rebounders in the last 5 years on the same team.

He gets 21 rebounds per 100. He absolutely is a better rebounder. Drummond is about the only guy that's better at rebounding and it's only a slight margin. We crushed teams with good moz. With DeAndre we would be ridiculous.

The one thing I'd note about DeAndre's rebounding numbers, though, is that when you watch him - because of the Clippers' scheme - he goes for rebounds instead of closing out on shooters. My bet, on a team like the Cavs, his rebounding numbers would take a slight hit.

The reason he can do that in the scheme, though, is because of how long and mobile he is. I.E., the Clippers can afford to give up open midrange shots because, if the opponent takes anything else, DJ will probably contest it.

I actually think DJ is a better defender in today's NBA than Gobert, to be honest, because the former is an elite switch defender. Per Synergy, DJ gives up .757 points per possession as a big man switching on the PnR. Gobert, by contrast, gives up .88. And, on those plays even when the ball handler does not shoot, the opponent only scores on 35% of opportunities when DJ is the big, versus 42% for Gobert.

If Chris Paul and Blake leave, a year after begging DeAndre to screw over Dallas and come back to L.A.... Damn that's cold...

They were stupid to beg him to stay anyway. Not smart.

OKC excercising option on Jerami Grant, per Woj. Gotta think this means no more Roberson and/or Kanter getting traded.

Kanter gonna end up in jail or kidnapped at some point. Just stay away from that guy.
