Yeah but the date has already passed in which they can sign a player and still use that salary in combination with others in a trade.

So they can sign a guy for ~8 million and trade him alone for another guy worth up to like 9.6 million. Again nothing that will move the needle.

They can't trade for a player into that exemption?

Yeah I suppose they could. Wouldn't get the 120% rule then, but yeah they could. But still limits them to an 8 million dollar guy or so.

Their offense has gotten a little better but their defense is slipping and isn’t super elite every night anymore. They were #1 by a mile and now they’re headed towards dropping out of the top 5 if they have even one more week playing like this. It’s kind of a big drop, honestly. I was always skeptical in Kyrie being part of the #1 defense.

Their defense is still elite. They are ranked #1 in DRTG. And they have an above average offense (#11 ORTG). The sample size isn't small anymore either. To have a rating like that over 36 games isn't just a fluke. I think they're definitely a 50+ win team. However, I don't think that Kyrie is as important to their success as some people might think. Don't get me wrong, he's not a negative player, but if you removed him from their roster, Boston would still be a 3rd or 4th seed. That team is more about the sum of its parts, not individual players.

Al Horford finally stopped playing like a top 10 player and is back to reality. That's the biggest difference right now; that part was never going to last.

Agree somewhat. Though they weren’t #1 when I made that post and I doubt they will be all year. Their DRTG in the last 12 games has been a lot worse. And they use to be in the lead in DRTG by a lot and now they’re barely ahead of a couple teams.

I wonder if they’ll stay healthy all year besides Hayward obviously. Kyrie was having pain last year in that surgically repaired knee. Has been good so far this year but we’ll see how it feels after 60 games I guess.

Agree that Kyrie isn’t as important as people think.

Wall just kicked his ass up and down the floor in crunch time to maybe give the Wizards the road W on Christmas.

Wiz up 5 with a minute left. Rozier keeping Boston in arms length, lol.

That and Jayson Tatum gets all the calls.

He is going to be a great scorer though. I was a little off there, but it was reasonable not to think he'd be a knockdown three point shooter like he is.

It's not out of the question that, in 2-3 years, Brown and Tatum are two of the five best wings in the league.

Who gives a shit about Brown or Tatum. This guy is going to be a top3 two-way wing in the league in a couple years.
