2017 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ridley is the best player on the field. Why is he running free down the field? Horrible defense

You're the underdogs and you punt the ball on 4th and 4. Then run a bullshit 3rd and 8 QB draw. Horrible.

Will be interesting to see what the rankings are... Alabama wins but not convincingly, Auburn destroys Georgia, Miami destroying ND, OK destroying TCU. Have to think Miami, Alabama, and OK are 3 of the 4? And I guess Clemson is the 4th.

I am not saying we deserve to be in the playoff but I really feel more and more a 2 loss team is going to get in the field this year at this point. Alabama simply beats Auburn and Georgia. Oklahoma does its thing and Miami Beats Clemson in the ACC title game and all of a sudden your gonna have a field of 2 loss teams in OSU, Georgia, Notre Dame, Clemson,TCU and others. Then your may have a 2 loss USC as a pac 12 champion verse a 2 loss Ohio State Big10 champion if conference titles are important. I think its at the point the committee is hoping there is an attractive 1 loss team like OSU was last that did not win a conference title to get that spot. As for those teams that are remaining they are Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Miami, and Wisconsin.

It's crazy, but we are very much in this thing. Today was a big day.

Now, say Miami, Oklahoma, Bama and OSU win out out. Does OSU make it?
I think so.

Say Oklahoma and Bama win out, but Clemson beats Miami. Does OSU make it?
Probably not. I could see pretty much any 1 loss Power 5 team getting in over us, except Wisconsin if we beat them since they've played literally nobody all year.

At this point we want:

1) Bama to win out
2) Miami to win out
3) Oklahoma to win out, OR lose to both WVU and Big 12 title game opponent
4) Wisconsin to win out until the B1G title game (this is just a bonus)

We actually have a pretty good shot. It's not all that unlikely. Basically, we need Bama to beat Georgia and Miami to beat Clemson. If that happens, and we take care of our business...

In short: Bama wins out. Miami wins out. Oklahoma wins out. Ohio State wins out. There's your playoff.

USC and Ohio State could be in contention for last spot. My concern is Bama losing and giving the Sec two teams.
Clemson Miami will be elimination game. I just hope the Sec title game is another.

You say that but remember Ohio State was taken over a 2 loss conference champ last year.

Far more preferable for Miami to win out then sit out their title game with 1 loss.

The killer scenario would be for Miami to beat Clemson, and then have Clemson turn right around in the ACC title game and squeak one out against Miami.

So I agree with rob. Bama needs to win out, Oklahoma needs to win out. And Miami probably needs to win out. I dont have a ton of faith in Miami to beat Clemson

But either way it is most definitely not an elim. Game for Miami. They can lose that game, win the ACC title game, and theyd make it as a 1 loss conf. Champ. 100%

If we win out I think there's about a 60% chance we are in.

Bama losing in SEC title game would be killer unless Auburn can give them a loss heading into it.

But ideally Bama wins out giving SEC 1 team.

Could get dicey but I belive Clemson vs Miami is an elimination game. Could almost be better if Clemson loses giving them two losses.

At this point we are Oklahoma fans IMO. Let them win Big 12 so it's a quality loss for us. We don't want to be in a resume contest with a two loss Oklahoma.

Obviously, if we beat Wisky we jump them. I don't see the PAC 12 champion getting in this year. Conference has been too weak.

Rankings after this week will be:

Alabama
Clemson
OU
Miami
Wisky
Auburn
Georgia
OSU

Not a bad place to be with a lot of football left and 2 losses. Auburn still has Bama. Georgia still has Bama. Miami and Clemson will knock each other off, and you never know how a semi-tough Gamecock squad could show in a rivalry game against Clemson.

And Mark Richt is still good for that inexplicable late season choke game. At Pitt on a really cold day could be interesting..hopefully it's -13 degrees.

There's still hope.....could be our LSU two loss year.

If Auburn beats Bama they would go to the SEC champ game.

I dunno I really think Miami winning out is easily preferable. We've already seen the committee take a 1 loss non-champ over a 2 loss champ.

If Miami loses some nail-biter to Clemson...that's a pretty worst case scenario for us. Clemson would be in and there'll be a strong case to take Miami over us, particularly considering we are the 1 loss non-champ taken last year over a 2 loss champ. Just, Miami winning solves everything.

They don’t play until the title game. You made it sound like they play twice. I don’t think the Acc is geting two teams. I said I hope Bama does not lose. If they do the Sec is likely geting two teams in. Bama needs to win out.

I agree, really the only way we have a chance is if Bama, Miami, and Oklahoma win out. If that happens we have a great chance, outside of that, a lot has to happen.

For Ohio State to be considered the best 2 loss team, I think Michigan needs to beat Wisconsin next week, and then meet a 1 loss Wisconsin in the big ten champ game. It would put Michigan back to a top 15 even top 10 when we play them, and Wisc would stay top 10. If PSU and Michigan St wins out we would be looking at wins over 4 ranked teams and with 2 of them in the top 10. That would trump anything any 2 loss team could throw at us.

What could screw us is if Bama loses to Auburn, then 2 Sec teams would probably get in. Bama and the winner of Georgia Auburn.

Yea I was confused by Miami only having played 9 games so far. Didn't realize one of their games was completely cancelled.

I'm still, however, not sure that's an elimination game. Miami loses a real close game to Clemson, I think there's a really good chance they stay ranked ahead of Ohio State.
