2017 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, pretty sure we can nip this "Ohio State over 1 loss Miami" scenario in the bud.

I wouldn't throw the towel in on us jumping a 1 loss Miami team should they lose to Clemson.

Their best win is against 9th ranked ND. Their second best win is against #24 Va Tech. Should Stanford beat ND, that "best win" becomes less significant.

OSU's best wins, assuming we win out, and MSU/PSU take care of business, will be: A top 10 PSU team, a top 15 MSU team, likely top 4 Wisky team, and a bowl eligible UNLV and what ended up being a good team in Army, also bowl eligible.

It won't look great that Miami had Bethune Cookman, Arkansas State, and Toledo all on the calendar.

And don't forget, there is such a massive difference in game attendance and TV Ratings when it comes to OSU and Miami. The Hurricanes do not travel at all, and don't bring any viewership. Don't get me wrong, I want to earn it on our resume alone, but I truly believe if we're close to Miami, profitability becomes the elephant in the room.

I don't get how you bring up OSU beating Army and UNLV as positives for us, but that it doesn't look great that Miami had Toledo (likely MAC Champ and a top 5-10 Group of 5 team) on their schedule. Arkansas State, potential Sun Belt Champ, is pretty good too as far as mid majors go.

As much as I want to believe 2 loss B1G Champ OSU jumps 1 loss ACC runner up Miami... I just don't see it. The committee just doesn't seem to be super high on the Buckeyes this year. 1) ND barely beat Navy last week, which some thought may lead to OSU jumping ND... didnt happen. 2) The committee chairman last night said there is little separation between OSU/PSU/USC in the 9-11 range.

Viewing guide for the weekend

If I don't list a game, either it doesn't matter, or root for the upset because the more chaos the better

Miami at Pitt Friday, noon. Pitt is bad but Miami plays down to their opponent, especially on the road. A Miami loss would end any hopes of 2 ACC teams in. If Miami at least looks bad, it may keep OSU in the hunt to pass a 1 loss Miami.

Iron Bowl Saturday, 3:30. Outside OSU winning, Bama winning is the most important game of the weekend. And next weekend, too. I think Bama is in, regardless of what they do. So let them win out.

Wisky at Minn, PSU at Maryland, MSU at Rutgers Saturday, 3:30/4:00. Wisconsin is the most important, but really don't want a bad loss to stain MSU and PSU, either.

WVU at Oklahoma Saturday, 3:45. What if Oklahoma loses this game, then loses the B12 CG? They are at 3 losses, so they have to be out. Would a 2 loss TCU/Okie St be ahead of OSU if they win the Big 12?

ND at Stanford Saturday, 8:00. A loss completely eliminates ND, plus would take some shine off Miami's best win

Chaos games: Georgia/Georgia Tech, Clemson/SC, UNC/NC State, TCU/Baylor

Apple Cup: If Wazzu wins, they go to the PAC12 champ and it'll be 2 loss Wazzu vs 2 loss USC. If not, Stanford goes. I don't think USC jumps us, so it probably doesn't matter.

Stanford will beat ND & Bama will beat Auburn; you heard it hear first!

The Arkansas St/Miami game was cancelled and never made up.

I don't like rooting for Pittsburgh football in any case, but I can make this exception.

Here we go chaos, here we go!

If Miami loses to Pitt and then beats Clemson, are they still in? I'd assume yes as a one-loss conf. champ, but this would be a very late loss.

Florida has moved on from Chip Kelly as its potential next head coach, multiple sources have told Yahoo Sports.

Yikes. Urban's fault!

Miami is in serious trouble now. Pitt is having a fantastic, time-eating drive.

If Miami beats Clemson, any chance Miami ends up #4 and we avoid Bama?
