2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like Conner as well - reminds me a bit of Arian Foster.

Put me down for a poor man's Christian Okoye. Big, fast, runs upright and takes a ton of hits. Of course, Okoye was more explosive. I had him rated highly when I watched Pitt, but like Okoye I wonder how long he will play. Plus, you know... cancer...

If you want 3 yards and a cloud of dust on every carry, Smith is your man.
What was that saying they had about Trent Richardson?

If you need 1 yard, he will get you 3. If you need 3 yards, he will get you 3. If you need 10 yards, he will get you 3.

Yeah, had to go back and watch some more film. Gonna have to retract that comparison, especially after finding some extremely grainy Foster tape from Tennessee to compare to. The explosion is really missing from Conner.

Browns were in meetings last 3 weeks putting together their board. Combine does change it a little. Don't buy into analysts on TV and Twitter saying "X is shooting up draft boards". Usually the case of them finding out who the guy is late or an agent trying to make a name for his client.

Roger Ebert had an easier job than Steven Spielberg.

Like this; saving it.

With that avatar, that's exactly what I expected you to say.

the problem is when you needed 1 yard Trent could rarely get you even 1

Guy was colossally bad

and something a whole lot of people completely missed out on because he was running behind an amazing line at alabama.

still pisses me off that the browns even considered him as the 4th pick, then fucking traded up for him. He had bust written all over him from the start. Go back and look at what AD did in college and went 7th overall, then go back and look at what Richardson did in college. Somehow the idiot browns thought richardson was not only worth better than the 7th, they figured they needed to secure him.

I know you're the board's resident Adrian Peterson mark, but this is just foolish. Their college stats are basically identical.

Peterson career: 772 offensive touches, 4,239 yards, 5.49 yards per touch, 42 TDs
Richardson career: 604 offensive touches, 3,860 yards, 6.39 yards per touch, 42 TDs

Richardson had a better offensive line, but I'd argue he faced tougher defenses on a week-to-week basis.

Sorry I meant actually watch their styles of play and the way they ran, and how they got those numbers. Its like comparing a bowling ball to a knife. Yeah they both got the same results in college, but in how they did it was completely different.

Peterson got stronger as the game went on, there is a reason they call him All Day "AD". He not only was faster than everyone, he had the strength and acceleration that set him apart. His legs just never stopped moving.

Richardson was a gigantic bruising back, that had an absolutely elite offensive line. Dont get me wrong Richardson was great in college, and I expected him to be at least a serviceable back. However, there was clear differences between the two and Richardson was never going to be able to run through people like he did in college. Especially when first contact was generally past the line of scrimmage.

Also if you recall, the SEC was no where near as good back then as it was from about 2008-2014.

Like i said just watch them and Richardson should have never gone in the top 6, much less top 3.

I agree with a good bit of what you're saying, especially when it comes to running style, but Richardson did play at Alabama from 2009-2011, right in the middle of the timeline you laid out.

The holes that were opened for Richardson really masked his biggest weakness, which was vision.

Right. I was thinking of AD played which was when the pac 10 and big 12 were at their height. But richardson definitely played when the sec had some killer teams.

Either way richardson should have been better than he was. I pulled up a bunch of scouting reports and one says he has elite vision........ ....... sigh
