2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As you sit here right now on November 22nd, do you really think there won't be a consensus number 1 quarterback come April 27th that will go in the top 2-3 picks?

It just comes down to whether we deem him worthy of our pick and take him. Is that accurate?

Consensus number one?

No, I don't think there will be a consensus number one quarterback. Some will like Watson, some will like Trubisky.

Myles Garrett is the best player, almost without question.

Passing on that, is just asinine to me. He's the most talented defensive player in the draft in the last 20 years.

Kizer & Watson are the only two guys I think should even be discussed in the first round - and neither in the top 10. Browns need to load up on defense and our offensive line before any quarterback will be successful on our team.

It's one thing to take another position player besides QB if he ranks higher on the board (and we desperately need an impact player in the defensive front seven, to be sure.) But this whole attitude that we absolutely cannot use our top pick on any QB until we do this, that and the other thing is just really misguided.

Same freaking arguments every year
Last year we were all losing our minds over Goff praying we tanked to #1 to get him

Then a lot of us wanted Wentz at 2 when the Rams jumped us.

Sometimes there just aren't QBs to get excited about.

With our #1 no matter what you take Garrett, or Allen if they for some reason view him higher than Garrett. But Garrett has to be the pick. Then if they feel they need to trade up to grab Trubisky/Watson/whoever (as long as it's not mortgaging all of our picks) then we do that. Just hard to not take a flier on a QB at some point, hopefully later.

Going back and reading Brady's scouting report is so funny. Why can't we be so lucky to grab a QB in the later rounds. Oh, because we HAVE to put them in right away.

Tom Brady Positives: Good height to see the field. Very poised and composed. Smart and alert. Can read coverages. Good accuracy and touch. Produces in big spots and in big games. Has some Brian Griese in him and is a gamer. Generally plays within himself. Team leader.

Negatives: Poor build. Very skinny and narrow. Ended the '99 season weighing 195 pounds and still looks like a rail at 211. Looks a little frail and lacks great physical stature and strength. Can get pushed down more easily than you'd like. Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush. Lacks a really strong arm. Can't drive the ball down the field and does not throw a really tight spiral. System-type player who can get exposed if he must ad-lib and do things on his own.

Summary: Is not what you're looking for in terms of physical stature, strength, arm strength and mobility, but he has the intangibles and production and showed great Griese-like improvement as a senior. Could make it in the right system but will not be for everyone.

Look... I'm not necessarily on the "pick the QB" bandwagon, but if Trubisky is in your top-5 players or so, you really must think hard about passing on the defensive guy for him. There is probably one shot for the Browns to get Trubisky, if they love him; it's with their own pick in the first round.

That's a pretty hot take

Expound on the history of this GIF.

If you are being serious, they are showing what happens when you pour water into hot oil/grease.

So basically that is what happened over the years when the Browns poured their draft picks into the Draft.

Thanks for the replies. I was just wondering if this was a future YouTube video gone wrong, if they expected that fireball, and what exactly got burned down by this act. And yes, all of my questions here equally apply to the Browns.

Can't you see it happening though? We go into the draft needing a QB and we know there's a very real chance that CHI and SF picking #2/#3 reach for one. Is our FO going to be willing to settle for their 2nd/3rd option (if that guy even falls to us at the Eagles pick)?

Not saying that's what I want to happen because passing on Garrett would make me sick to my stomach but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if we forced Trubisky up the board at #1.

The best part if the Browns somehow do not land the number 1 pick. We have a real option for a QB of our choice. I want Garret like yesterday and I am not a big Browns or football fan but no way do you pass that guy up.

You may think so but at least since the Browns been back I seen no more of a sure thing at number 1 since we had that pick before. Our defense and OL sucks and maybe we can use other stock piled picks to help that. Honestly I would rather have AZ drafting and use his logic then the idiots we got drafting for the Browns today. If we get the top pick he is the pick and if not we got our QB of choice as I said. It is up to the FO and scouts to make that all happen and again really there is little faith in them still. Garret will be a game changer and every NFL team needs one on defense and offense to even be okay anymore.

You could draft the next Elway and he'd be dead by Week 6 behind this line and that defense.

Folks, Kessler is already on concussion number two. Out of how many starts? RG3 is fucked and McCown is probably going down, again, very soon. Do you really want to spend THE #1 pick on a QB who not only wouldn't be a top the pick in most years, but whose career could be done before he turns 24? Build the foundation first. Build around the lines on both sides of the ball. There is no point in going through Couch 2.0.

Embrace the pain. There is no true franchise QB this year. Want to take a flyer? Take Falk in Round 3 and groom him. For all those juicy Round 1 and 2 picks, I only want to see D and OL. Look at Dallas, behind that line, a rookie QB is soaring while any RB has success blasting through wide-open holes. Force multipliers like the OL and DL are essential in ensuring the success of skill positions. I wanted the Browns to take Dak. But face it, Dak would be dead by now on this team.
