2017 Game #2 | #2 Ohio State vs. #5 Oklahoma | September 9th, 2017 @ 7:30 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's funny, when Tressel's offenses were bad, it ALWAYS Tress or Bollman's fault.

When Meyer's offenses are bad, it's Barrett's fault.

Our whole offense this bad, and it starts with the offensive coaching staff. Blaming everything on the QB is just the laziest of hot takes.

The offense was no better last year. With a different coaching staff. Hell, the previous year either. They were just fortunate to have the best college running back in a decade to carry the load. Even if one doesn't want to watch the QB play with a critical eye and see what is going on, you at least have to wonder what those three teams had in common.

And I'm not defending any of those offensive coaching staffs. Two years ago, they managed to have Cardale Jones throwing 5 yard outs all day and wondered why the offense sucked. This group isn't impressing me either. But it doesn't take a genius to watch Barrett play and see that he can't play the position at a high enough level. Against good teams you can't hold the ball so long, you can't throw late, you have to be willing to throw to guys that are covered. Throw them open. He isn't capable of that.

Just an awful game plan.

Weber and Dobbins combining for 5 carries in the 1st half gave me MSU PTSD.

We have success pounding the rock up the middle and get in a nice grove, but then try to go back outside and the drive stalls, or go outside or throw inside the 10.

4th down, and we roll our QB out and shorten the amount of room for his WRs to get open, and this is already a WR corp that can't get open all that well.

And the defense fell for the same play action all night. They ran that play action fake with the FB slipping out of the backfield uncovered at least 5 times.

And seriously...how hard is it to turn around while playing football?

Just tough to watch an opposing coaching staff create a system that gives its players, many of which are less talented than our players, designed easy, quick, open looks, while every 5+ yard pass we complete seems like a minor miracle.

They just brought in a new QB Coach and OC and continue to get the same results as the previous regime.
Because maybe both weren't that good?
Yeah, Barrett is an easy target because, quite frankly, he sucks.
He doesn't suck. He certainly has warts, but he's had too much success to suck. This just doesn't make sense.
I'm tired of seeing him clutch and double clutch as his eyes lock onto a single receiver and then throw it over said receivers head. He's hesitant to throw the ball anywhere on the field and it kills the WR's timing....
Because his WRs are never open. I'll grant he'll never have the arm strength the thread needles on tightly covered WRs, but with the talent we supposedly have, we never have open receivers.

Barrett is the drizzling shits. You cannot convince me otherwise.

He has regressed so hard since his freshman year. And he is not a dynamic runner.

I don't have access to the game tape, but I saw a few times tonight where guys were open and he either missed them or threw it too late. It's unreasonable to
expect receivers to be running wide open all over the field against a good team. They were open if he sees them and throws it on time.

They aren't playing Kent State. Next week, I bet guys will be open and people will say that Barrett is back.

Hard to take you serious when you think Decker, Elflein, Price and a bunch of 5-star recruits is isn't amazing for a college OLine

It sounds good on paper, but they're not performing

The OLine was TERRIBLE last year. Did you not watch the PSU and Michigan games? Or the Clemson game? Or NW? Or Sparty? I mean, if you honestly are arguing the OLine was amazing last year, then you are just pissed off right now or don't know what you are talking about.

It was OK in 2015. Zeke was amazing and made them look better.

It started out horrible in 2014 and got great as the year went along. Coincidentally, Barrett was great that year too.

Barrett stinks and he's had success because he's been propped up by a strong OL and an incredible running game the past few years.

Barrett's WR's aren't open because he has ZERO accuracy. His WR's literally have to stop their routes just to catch the fucking ball.... that is if the ball isn't thrown ten feet over their heads.

Agreed, tho JT is pretty weak.

Rather than go back and forth we'll just agree to disagree.
