2017 NFL playoff thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Chiefs don't have the offense to keep pace with the Yinzers.

I don't know how many years the Chiefs want to keep Smith at helm, but I really have a hard time seeing him being a super bowl winning QB. They're like the Raptors of the NFL.

Like yeah, you were 12-4. That's cute and everything, but you are severely outclassed against the Yinzers and the Patriots so like, what's the point?

If the Chiefs are going to win they're going to need phenomenal special teams play and/or defense.

Man oh man. The Browns have a shot at putting together a defense like this.

I don't know about that. I think you can get by with him at the QB. It's hard finding good QB's guys.

Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady's don't fall out of the tree. I mean, he's not Osweiller where he'll go out there can completely shit all over himself and lose the game each week for you.

I don't think Smith is bad. The Chiefs defense is good, but not great. I don't think their defense matches up well against the Steelers skill players.

But if they somehow win, I do think they'll give New England a good and honest game. Their skill players aren't nearly as good, and I do think they will get pressure on Brady.

Bell's patience is really something else. Stands out from other backs.

I thought Dallas should of ran it on 3rd and 3. there was too much time left on the clock. Really was hoping for OT.

Daks ability though to keep plugging away was impressive though. The team has promise.

If KC keeps holding Pittsburgh to field goals . Kc will be a turnover away from getting in the Drivers seat.

I think Smith is pretty bad. I don't even think he's a top 20 QB.

The guy averages 1 passing touchdown per game. You better have an elite defense if you want to win a super bowl with Alex Smith

He doesn't have to be Brady or Rodgers. He isn't even Flacco though.

And what's wrong with that? Touch downs can be overrated. He doesn't turnover the ball a lot. Completes a high percentage of his passes.

Frankly, guys like Flacco and Eli Manning also throw a lot of picks and cost you games too. It's not like these two are elite IMO where you say, hey, you can live with the turnovers.

Drew Brees throws a lot of picks too, but you can live with it when he's also throwing 38 touch downs and throwing for nearly 5,000 yards every year.

@The Wizard of Moz. The Chiefs average 24.2 points per game. Elite? No, but definitely not bad. So just because he's not throwing 25 touch downs is kinda meaningless as long as they are putting up points at the end of the day.

You can win a Super Bowl with that type of offensive production.

He doesn't turn the ball over because he refuses to push the ball at all down the field. The book has been out on Alex Smith for a long time now. Make him beat you deep and cover the underneath.

He's an extremely flawed QB and is going into half time against a below average defense with 7 points to show. Because he sucks.

And to the point of their points per game their defense and special teams have 8 return touchdowns this year. 8/42.

They keep the turnovers down and beat you with underneath stuff. That stuff won't work against elite offenses.

the book that has him as the 3rd winningest quarterback since 2011 while playing for 2 different teams.
Is that the book your talking about?

Funny, I only remember 1 playoff win against a team starting Bryan Hoyer

And it's still a game, because he's not making costly mistakes.

Why should a QB force bad throws and decisions? Again, is 24.2 points per game bad for an offense? His yards per completion is 7.2, which is average BTW. There's definitely not 20 QBs more productive. Alex Smith isn't super talented, but he gets it done.

Their offense points per game is higher than Baltimore, New York, Seattle, and Detroit. All teams that have QBs that love to push the ball so much down the field, but, convert for less points overall...

I don't think Alex Smith is great or some awesome QB. But I just fail to see how the Chiefs offense isn't good enough to win.

These were all winning teams, some playoff teams, and their offense was worse than a team lead by Alex Smith.

The point is we are 2 wins from the Super Bowl? I like the position we put ourselves in actually. And believe it or not, we can play great games. We haven't been good so far today, but anyone can win any game. And Steelers are a playoff tested team who have already played a game. And this one isn't over either for the record.

No, Alex Smith isn't a Rodgers or Brady, but there aren't exactly many of those. Last year was our first playoff win since 93'. This year we won a competitive division. I'm happy with the direction we are going. I haven't ever seen this team have any real success in my lifetime and we are actually giving ourselves a chance. I don't agree with your opinion at all.
