I’ve been anxiously awaiting the season debut of The Tank Enquirer!!
Will very likely be out Friday. Have an actuarial exam Thursday so can't do it before then

I would do that. I would also seriously look into dealing Danny Shelton if they haven't been doing that already.
I doubt we'd get more value for him than the value he provides us. He's a very good run defender. Do you want to trade him for a player or a pick?

The tank would be much more fun if Watson was throwing 60 yard in air bombs for TDs with us

A pick and I think we could get it. Brantley and Ogunjobi are well enough to supplement Shelton. If Danny Shelton was traded before the season started we probably wouldn't have missed a beat in the run defense.

Trading any young player who is above average is probably a bad idea unless you get great value which is unlikely. Draft picks don’t win games, developed young players do.

Look around at the pick market for talented players.... it's not a hot market. Extremely unlikely we could get a second and I'd even put it at highly doubtful we could get a 3rd.

Trading an actually productive player for another day 3 pick... dude we have enough picks. The odds a 4th rounder turns into Shelton are really really slim

Also having depth on the DL is a good thing. Brantley has played like shit all year in the sparing time he has played but somehow he can replace Shelton? Uh...

None of these guys play more than 50% of snaps. We constantly rotate them to keep them fresh. Brantley playing 80% of snaps would be ass

Ogunjobi has been as good as Shelton this season

Shelton's cap hit is only $3.7M for next year.

I don't see any reason to dump him for $ or performance reasons. If he's not in the long-term plans, then let him walk after 2018 and recoup a comp pick in 2019.

You must have depth in this league. You don’t trade a good productive player because “so and so is just as good” because if so and so gets hurt you’re trotting out dog shit. Did you see the dog shit on the field for the Browns today replacing our injured starters? The Browns lack of depth continues to be the biggest issue with this football team outside of QB.

In significantly less snaps

But seriously, what's the point in trading depth for a draft pick that is more likely than not to not be a significant contributor (historical hit rates of 4th round picks are damn low)

Ogunjobi and Brantley weren't just drafted for depth. They are guys that this regime feels could replace Shelton. Coley too. The reason I brought up Shelton is because he wasn't drafted by these guys and they probably feel like they won't miss a beat without him.

We are dropping him in coverage every game for some odd reason. I know we could get a pick for him but a player would be nice. Just think if we trade someone he would most likely be the first guy gone.
