2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Browns could have a shot at splitting with Ravens and Bengals, beat Jets, beat Bucs, beat Broncos. That’s five there.

Steelers, Chiefs, Saints, Raiders, Falcons, Panthers, Texans, Chargers are all playoff teams that should handle the Browns. If the Browns played most of those teams competitively they might be able to steal a game or two.

I’d also be surprised if the Browns didn’t win 6 games this year.

Raiders went 6-10 last year.

I think the bengals might be awful and the ravens aren’t dominant.

Jets bad, bucs terrible.

The league is full of parity. Plus, we have this guy coming in here all “5 wins max”. Ok then, let’s do this.

@The Voice you can get some too. Wager away if you think we’ll suck. Take my money, unless it’s just brave talk.

Buddy boy, what 5 teams do you think they’re going to beat? Asking for a friend

Going opponent by opponent and counting only those games you think you are likely to win is the wrong way to guess your likely win total because it ignores the reality that favorites don't always win.

If you want to go game by game, add up the percentage chance to win each of your 16 games. That's your estimated win total.

Their schedule is pretty fucking brutal due to the NFC South. That's why I think in an easy year, they could squeak out a +.500 record. This year, seven wins would be a fucking incredible feat, IMO.

To be fair, Carolina and Tampa aren’t really all that great. Not scared of Carolina throwing the ball in the slightest, and not scared of Tampa doing much of anything offensively outside of Mike Evans.

Also, I think the Browns, talent wise, are near or have surpassed both the Bengals and Ravens.

The Bengals have only beaten the Browns so bad because we haven't had a good QB in years. With an offense, the Browns would have beaten them a few times. Dalton is weak against pressure and we can bring loads against their weak ass LT.

I dont think people realize how bad the Ravens are. Flacco is a shell of himself and he wasnt even that great at his peak. His best receivers are Michael Crabtree and...John Brown? Buck Allen? Their defense is still absolutely incredible but I think the Browns have more on offense than Baltimore. By a good amount, too.

So, that's 4 games against teams that have nearly the same talent level as the Browns. Not only that, but the Browns were not that bad last year. I know people dont want to hear that, but the Browns were actually decent except one area. They were roughly the worst red zone offense of all time. That was a direct result of Kizer being a shit head in the redzone.

With our additions, the roster is likely a average to above average in talent. It all depends on how Hue, Haley and Greggggg perform.

So, likely they will under perform and the Browns are looking at a new coach and big year next year.

@Mr. Orange

No more than 5 wins? Prove it.

Up to $200 says 5 wins or more. You get 5 wins or less.

Name your wager size and let’s do this. Push some chips in, buddy boy.

Hehe

Look, $200 is a bit rich for me. Based on the last few seasons I think 6 wins is unlikely but the NFL can be strange so I’m not going to bet money on it. For the Browns and the fans sake I hope km wrong.

Kinda nice to be in a place wherein we are concerned about:

WR6
TE4
etc.

Remember when we had basically no viable starters anywhere?

I’m not saying we will be good as a team, but units have been improved and have some borderline enviable talent.
When WR2 was the talent equivalent of WR6, or....cut by Buffalo

Anyone can write a check buddy boy, what about you eating horseshit eagles fan style?

Thankfully Sashi scuttled the AJ trade.

Looking at the cuts, we have 6 draftees from the 2016 draft on the team, including two D starters (Ogbah, Schobert-Pro Bowler), two rotational defensive players (Nassib, Kindred), a 3/4 WR (Higgins), and a backup TE (DeValve). That proves out the "you want more shots" theory from the egg heads.

2017 draft looks to have nabbed five starters (Garrett, Peppers, Njoku, Ogunjobi, Gonzalez) and you can really make that six with Denzel Ward.

So that is 8 starters in two drafts and 4 backups. Possibly the best two Browns drafts since the return. Getting Baker certainly eases the pain from the Wentz trade as well. Not to mention saving us a second and third from the AJ trade.

Guy certainly did his job.
Convinced the Sashi support won’t die until every last pick is cut or out of the NFL...

The guy wouldn’t put a package together for Goff and passed on Wentz, Jalen Ramsey, Zeke, Bosa, and Leonard Floyd IN ONE ROUND in favor of a player who is now unemployed.

2016:
Coleman - traded for a 7, unemployed
Ogbah - starter
Nassib - cut
S. Coleman - traded for a 7
Kessler - traded for a 7
Schobert - starter
Louis - cut
Kindred - SS2
DeValve - TE3
Payton - cut
Drango - cut
Higgins - WR2?
Caldwell - cut
Wright - cut

2 starters in 14 picks. “Guy certainly did his job.”

I’m rolling.

Edit: Louis - IR
Higgins W3 (honestly)
Wright - Cut (played two seasons with the Cardinals)

In a sense did we make the right move trading out of getting Wentz, I think so, but did we capitalize on it? no not at all. I mean if you went back through that draft, you could easily find starters after we picked. I don't think the gameplan was wrong, but they didn't seem to execute it well.

This happens to every front office the Browns have had for years. It's truly amazing how bad all of them fuck up.
