2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

It's possible he is back in Cleveland though at the end of the day. You always need depth guys and it's not like our LB is actually deep, though I do expect one or two guys added through free agency or the draft who are better coverage LBs since our guys seem to be solid run tacklers but not always the strongest in the coverage department.

He may want to fight for a starting job elsewhere, Joe the Show took his job. I'm just wondering if I can trust spotrac, that was my go-to site for free agency. They are impeccable for NBA.

Carder was a consistent special teams player who the Browns did miss, but the front office can find a backup linebacker pretty easily. The point here was the top 3 linebackers on the roster are solid, the group just had health issues this season.

I'm still on my crusade about the Browns linebackers. In this piece, Schobert is 9th in the NFL, Collins 10th, and Kirksey is 11th. Doesn't need to be a position to focus on early in the draft.

While I agree that we need depth more than anything.....if R. Smith (highly unlikely) falls to the 2nd, I'd be more upset with passing on him regardless of whoever else might be available.

I didn't pay attention to any other LBs this year outside of Mike McCray, who shouldn't be picked before the 5th round...... so my range on LBs this year is pretty weak. I got the best one though, that counts for something..... right?

I wish the draft was tomorrow.

You're not allowed to get off this ride early if we're all stuck on it.

We haven't even gotten into peak silly season when people realize Darnold's hands are Goff-sized. This is going to be a fun few months.

Don't know if this article already has been posted, but it's a Sports Illustrated profile of Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Minkah Fitzpatrick's Best Isn't Good Enough for Minkah Fitzpatrick

The whole point of distressed jeans is, of course, that they are distressed. Minkah Fitzpatrick knows fashion. His mother and older sister both work for Burlington department stores; he styles teammates for awards ceremonies. And yet here he is—the best player on the nation’s best defense, a top 10 pick in next year’s NFL draft (should he decide to declare) and arguably the most dominant player who will take the field in next month’s College Football Playoff—straightening the purposely asymmetrical rip on his left knee as he explains that he abhors clutter.

The junior Alabama defensive back is meticulous in all aspects of his life, sometimes to the exhaustion of those around him. Fitzpatrick attributes the Tide’s crushing loss in last season’s championship game against Clemson to “people coming late to a meeting or just not wearing the right socks.” He acknowledges that he may sound insane but adds, “If you can’t do the small things right, how can you expect to do the big things....?”

For anyone who attaches major importance to character....we have to get this kid.

Yep, Minkah is the only non-QB on the top of my draft list in tier 1. Working class kid who leads by example, lives and breathes his craft, and has every physical trait you would want as well. A no-brainer after the QB position is addressed, IMO.

I'm a sucker for guys like him and Oladipo. The first in/last out guys with high character. I remember one of the comments made by a coach or GM about Oladipo was "whatever his ceiling is, he's going to reach it," and Minkah Fitzgerald seem like the same type.

Kind of guy you root for wherever he plays. Sort of like that other Fitzpatrick in St. Louis.

Here was the tweet I was looking for. I'd say Njoku is a surefire breakout candidate next year with better coaching, but, well...

Njoku was certainly the bright light on offense this year - I think he's got the more upside than Howard. Howard's game is exceptionally conventional for the TE position - great blocker, good route runner and will be able to beat guys with his size alone. He will be a very good TE in this league but I think that is his ceiling.

Njoku grading out at 6th at run-blocking his rookie season is remarkable. The only real knock he had against him coming out of Miami was his blocking ability, mostly attributed to his inexperience at the position. This tells me he's coachable - Seamon was about the only offensive coach to earn his paycheck this year and it's all because of Njoku.

His athleticism at the position is certainly above average for the NFL, he has excellent hands, and he has already demonstrated elite tracking ability. By default, he basically became one of the few playmakers we had on offense and his production certainly wasn't helped by our QB's. Luckily, the dude is just talented.

I'd like to see him get a little more meat on his legs this off-season to benefit his blocking potential but I think we have a freak on our hands. Not even Hue can mess that up.

nvm, can't upload a gif.

Debatable.

Agreed though, he's going to be a real weapon for whatever QB we draft/sign. Hopefully Rosen or Darnold if we get smith
